Can An Evangelical Christian Vote for a Mormon?
Decision Magazine ^ | October 22, 2012 | Franklin Graham

Posted on 11/03/2012 10:09:29 AM PDT by re_tail20

This question has stirred much debate. Historically, Christians have voted for candidates of different faiths, including Mormons, based on how they live their lives and how deeply committed they are to upholding the U.S. Constitution. Remember, God ordained government, and we are not electing a pastor-in-chief, we are electing a commander-in-chief.

George Washington was Episcopalian, Abraham Lincoln had no religious affiliation while he was president, John Kennedy was Catholic and Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton were outspoken Southern Baptists. Over a period of 223 years, our nation’s cities and states have been governed by people of many different faiths, including Mormons from both the Democratic and Republican parties.

Orrin Hatch, a Mormon, has served this nation as an effective senator and George Romney, Gov. Mitt Romney’s father, was one of the great governors of Michigan. His religion never interfered with governing, but his personal faith did define his strong marriage, family values and personal integrity. I believe this is the same for Gov. Mitt Romney. While there are major differences in the theology of evangelical Christians and that of Mormons, as well as those who practice the Catholic faith or the Jewish faith, we do share common values that are biblically based.

Americans must remember that while our nation was founded upon godly principles, we do not have a state religion. Rather, our Constitution provides for the freedom to worship without interference of government. Our forefathers shed their blood to win this right. We must be committed to electing a commander-in-chief who will protect this liberty and uphold the Constitution as one nation under God, and who will ensure God’s moral law will not be violated by changing the law of the land.

The question should be “Can an Evangelical Christian vote for a Muslim?”

The question should be “Can an Evangelical Christian vote for a Muslim?” BINGO! Beat me to it. Actually they did vote for a muslim in 08 and now they’re regretting it. Now do they vote for the Christian or the Mohamadean.

Mormons may be misguided Christians (or not. Some would also say that Catholics are misguided, while others would say that Protestants are misguided. Who on Earth really knows for sure.). But Muslims and Marxists (and Obama is certainly one and perhaps both of these) are admittedly antiChrist. So, the short answer is YES. Absolutely YES.

Yes, I certainly can...paraphrasing what Graham said, I’m voting for my president, not my preacher.

No, the question should be, "Can a Christian vote for a liberal?"

And the answer is: No.

Anti abortion
Anti death penalty
Anti immigration laws
Higher taxes for more social programs.
Mix anti and pro gay rights.

max %40 conservative
max %80 liberal

Yes!
I’d know where I can get some food if hungry! I believe they are a cult (Mormonism), but they don’t chop off hands or heads!
The alternative is to chew tree bark and make soup from squirrel sh*t... With Obamalamadingdong, we will have to submit to Islam... To get our food stamps!

The great myth though is that Romney is a moral man with biblical values. Not only does Mormonism lack Biblical values, but so does Mitt Romney. The GOP and “conservatives” went into tribal mode after the nomination and conveniently forgot all the lies Romney said to get the nomination in the first place. They’ve spent the last month or so deifying him into something he clearly is not. It’s Big Lie politics, repeated over and over again, until everyone seems to believe it.

Mormonism is NOT Christian, and it is because of that false assertion by Romney supporters that I have long since abandoned the idea that the GOP is in any way superior to the DNC. The Bible is unchanging on this issue, but men are changing all the time.

The Bible knows for sure. The Bible does not teach that there are three seperate gods, that God the father (whom they call Elohim, Jehovah is Jesus) is not omniscient and was once a mortal man, that salvation is for all, but celestial Godhood is for the Mormon. The Catholics, for all their problems, do not make such absurd claims. You might as well compare the Catholics to the Baha’i, who claim their dead prophet was the second coming of Jesus Christ. It’s apples and oranges, and it is extraordinarily offensive to put groups like the Mormons, or Baha’i, or Scientologists on par with biblical Christianity, like mere “denominations” in something that is not very different at all.
