Romney Will Lose If He Continues To Play It Safe
Rightwing Wing Nuts Blog ^ | 10/26/12 | John Alan

If you only listen to Fox News and Rush Limbaugh you believe Romney is winning. He's not, he's losing. Both Real Clear Politics and Intrade have Obama with 281 electoral votes with 11 days til the election. You only need 270 to win. Intrade predicted every state correctly in 2004 and had two states reversed in 2008.

Move your cursor over each state "click here" to see the candidates chance of winning. Notice Virginia has moved back toward Obama and has more chance of going for Obama than Ohio does of going for Romney. There have been a lot of one-off polls showing Pennsylvania and Michigan in play, however Intrade shows otherwise. Colorado is a toss up and currently leans Obama. Iowa and New Hampshire are trending Obama, while Wisconsin and Nevada are currently dark blue.

This is a far different picture from the one being painted by Sean Hannity, Dick Morris and Karl Rove. So then why is Romney pulling his punches on Benghazi? It's becoming clearer every day Obama refused to send in a rescue mission because he's haunted by the Jimmy Carter failed rescue attempt back in 1980.

I believe the Benghazi scandal has the potential of becoming one of the biggest in U.S. history. So again, why is Romney sitting with his arms folded? Because he's just as risk averse as Obama. He's terrified the media will again accuse him of politicizing the death of these four men. What, and Obama is not playing politics by withholding virtually all information, for nearly two months, until after the election?

Forget about the politics for a moment, only Romney has a megaphone large enough to force the media to get off their butts. The families deserve the truth and the American people deserve the truth. Once the truth comes out, the political consequences for Obama will be well deserved. If people knew Obama did nothing for seven hours while four of our men were being murdered, the election would be over. The problem is most people don't know. Now imagine how you'll feel on Nov. 7th if Romney loses because he played it safe by letting Obama off the hook on Benghazi.

I hate Romney more than most...but you are wrong, he will win in a landslide. I take no happiness from this, but that is the way I see it. We’ll talk on Nov. 7th.

The key is to get away from places like FR and take an objective look at hard numbers. The polls support the narrow Obama victory side of things. They are all close but the EV count still favors Obama. Can Romney pull it off? Sure, but the euphoria that pervades places like FR tend to leave you heartbroken.

I'm disturbed by my own insights ~ can't be I'm the only person seeing these problems ~ but then again not all that many people have spent as much time as I have over the decades dwelling on the minutiae of statistical sampling.

Gallup and Rassmussen have 'splained some of what they are doing to mitigate these problems ~ which means they read these threads of ours where we have people looking at what's going on with polling technology.

We may well have helped solve the problem

Me thinks someone is trying to lure Romney into a trap.

Yep, 0bama wants to blame Bush (and Romney by proxy) again, since it seems the leader of the attack was A.Q. released from Gitmo in 2007.

Obama’s only hope is that Romney makes a blunder in going aggressive at this point.

The only folks that don’t want Romney to “play it safe”, are those in the Obama camp.

This is a great opportunity to fund down ticket conservative candidates, in close races.
This has the advantage of getting the vote out, for (R)’s up and down the ticket.

Dude is gonna win no matter what, at this point.

True dat. Unless video of Romney beating a child to death surfaces, he's got this thing in the bag. Even then, it depends on whether the kid is ugly.

We were all upset that Romney didn’t hit zero more on Libya. However, in hindsight, he played it smart. Its all unraveling right now without soundbites from him for the MSM to play ad nauseum.

I tend to believe Nate Silver’s polls that say Dear Leader, Obamugabe, will win...unfortunately.

The guy is rarely wrong.

The idiots who live and vote in this country just make me shake my head in disbelief. We’re headed down the same path as Venezuela and Rhodesia if we vote for that thug, but we probably will, and the parasite sheeple will never know what hit them, if they even care.

I love the way ever Anti Romney clown thinks they can tell Romney how to win.

How about you people get off the bench and win some elections before you have the arrogance to tell people how to win elections.

Nate Silver is basically allowing his personal political agenda color his analysis. He basically ignores all the polling that shows Obama in trouble.

One good thing about this election, there are certain media hyped reputations like Silvers that are going to be completely discredited. Silvers is spinning a big Obama win. Everyone knows that is not going to happen. He is so far out on a limb now no matter what happens, Silver over inflated reputation is gone.

The polls support the narrow Obama victory side of things.

I tend to agree with that assessment, probably because I am a pessimist who has long ago lost faith in what passes as the American public these days.

Saying that, once upon a time we generally relied on national polls and the gold standard tended to be Gallup. Gallup has Romney up between 3-5 points almost every day now. It is hard to imagine Gallup getting it so wrong when they are usually at least reasonably close. Rasmussen also has Romney up 3 nationally for days now. That poll may not be perfect, but it seems to be picking up on something.

Then again, the state polls look kinda rough for Mitt. So at this time the real question is, are the national polls right or is it the state polls that are more accurately telling how this thing will end up. I agree with your view of things, but I suspect Obama is still sweating a bit at how close it got.

And Intertrade had Obamacare an 90% chance to overturn in the SC.

If you have rich sugar daddies willing to waste money like Obama Intrade is easy to manipulate.

What is a wonder is supposedly “smart” people still buy their marketing nonsense about their accuracy.

Everyone knows that is not going to happen

No, I think the majority of the media DO think Obama is going to win. It really seems like this time around that both sides, at least at this point, think they are going to win. If you can stomach a trip over to MSDNC you would believe Obama is headed to a smashing victory based on all the state polls that seem to support that view of things.

In general, the media and left are banking entirely on Nate Silver's "model".
