I’m befuddled that Iowa seems to be going dem. That seems odd for a state with so much farming and heartland heritage.
Farmers get big government handouts and ethanol subsidies. They have been unwittingly attached to the govt’ tit.
The problem is the cities. Everywhere. On the dole.
I used to listen to WHO 1040 out of Des Moines, and was amazed that Iowans would elect a leftist buffoon like Tom Harkin to the U.S. Senate. His soundbites were horrifically moonbat-like.
Here in Minnesota, the group of Swedish/Norwegian/German farmers signed up with Hubert Humphrey to create the DFL (Democratic-Farmer-Labor) party. I'm sure some of the people with similar ideologies settled in Iowa too. Now many farmers are becoming 1%-ers growing corn for ethanol.
They are envious of their sophisticated northern neighbors.
They are highly educated, but have not experienced the downside of liberalism and crime yet, in that they are a hard-working populace.
Nascent progressives, whose bubble has not yet burst. IMHO.
