Reality check. What are you doing tomorrow? (Vanity)

This is the season of politics and I follow things closely. You probably know what I mean. I am reading Drudge and FR constantly. I know the times when Rasmussen and Gallup polls come out and I press refresh for the results. But I make a point of doing regular things and living life.

This post is about what to do to keep things regular and normal. So what are you doing tomorrow to keep things normal?

In the morning, i am going to do a little reloading and then I am going shooting with my daughter, her friend and her friend's father. I am looking forward to this because you can never have too many outdoors friends. This will be the first time we go shooting together even though we belong to the same club.

In the afternoon, I am going to smoke some ribs and I will watch Penn State football in the evening. (I will also watch football throughout the day while smoking, but that can be interrupted. PSU football cannot)

I’m going to organize my wood shop.

I’m pretty confident where things are going so I can relax a little without F5-ing FR every 20 minutes.

CPA"What are you doing to keep things normal. I'm smoking ribs and watching penn state football."

SVT"Unfortunately, smoking is nasty, filthy and disgusting and Pedo State should be bulldozed to the ground and then nuked from orbit just to be sure."

CPA"Well you can go to hell assh0le."

It is bow season here in Pa, but I do not partake due to warm weather and lack of facilities to care for the meat. It has only been going down to the high 30’s lately and only one hard freeze so far this year. My deer hunting starts after thanksgiving.

Your son shot a fine deer. You must be a proud father,

Getting up early to stain the horizontal bricks on the hearth and behind the wood-burning stove (we will actually need it tomorrow night). Then making breakfast for the family (big night tonight ... they will be hungry ... daughter’s first school dance and son was ballboy for the high school team). Then watch a replay of MIT’s football game (other son plays for them) ... I know the score ... have to keep it a secret from the younger son. Then finish staining the rest of the bricks and touchups (has to be finished in the afternoon). Then daugher cheers for son’s football game (playoffs), then she stays to cheer one more game. Then I make supper and fold laundry and get the fabric out for the throw pillows. I want them done before the puppy comes in 2.5 weeks. After supper, a good documentary.

MIT has a feetball team? How scary is that? Do they use droids or cyborgs?

I’ve been catching up on a lot of dvd’s I’d purchased. Lots of old tv-show fare, like “Gunsmoke,” “Untouchables,” “87th Precinct,” “The Gallant Men,” and whatnot. A lot of old westerns, too. Just watched a 1925-vintage silent b-western, in fact.

Finding time has been easy this election. I’ve hardly watched much news all year long. I’m just vastly less emotionally invested in this election than any previous one from the past three decades, despite my intense desire for Obama’s removal. Don’t particularly like our nominee, and have lost a ton of faith/respect/trust in the GOP in these past handful of years. No vigor or enthusiasm for the process, which now just seems more of a chore-like act of unplugging a stopped-up toilet. On the good side, having this kind of distance has indeed diminished the usual election-time angst, and seems to have freed up a lot of spare time.

I was too tired when I got home from work to do anything but put the hide in a garbage bag in the freezer. (He left it out on the lawn). It can be traded for a really nice pair of buckskin gloves. My son has a really nasty cold but his cousin talked him into going hunting out where my in-laws live yesterday. He got him at dark last night and came home this morning. He was asleep when I got here. I have some big canvas bags I use for game. And I didn’t bother to untie it to look at him. But if I had to guess live weight around 160. Really looking forward to fresh liver, and onions, for breakfast.

I am proud. My brother and I had a laugh about it earlier. Apparently the kid did listen to me ONCE. ;-)

I’m sending warning messages to Gloria AllRED via snail mail to keep hands OFF Romney.

I’m sending out information to leftist relatives in Denver about the HOMOPOTUS and his socialistic policies that will eventually usurp parental rights over children.

I’m sending important e-mail information to those who vote about Bath-House Barry.

And, I’m aging 30 more years until election time.

I’m also praying.

Is there a story to go along with the kill? My deer hunting stories are boring. I scout, pick a deer, look at my watch. Come opening day I keep an eye on my watch and the deer trail, then the day is done. I enjoy the scouting part very much. The killing part not so much. I love the eating part.

Fresh liver and onions for breakfast.... Lucky bas....

I've got the same old smoked herring, stewed tomatoes, and beer for Sunday breakfast.

Your boy did good, with a cold and everything. Sounds like he needs to crash for a while, and maybe have someone sit on him to make sure he stays crashed. ;)

Good luck with that.

FrogDad and I are going to the range to try out the new Judge. Taking a couple of others, too. We’ve been working on my breathing when standing and shooting my newish Springfield XDM.

Then doing some paperwork I brought home from work.

So doing normal stuff!

Normal, what’s that?

I’m going to an AFP rally featuring Ann Coulter, then out drinking with some friends. Maybe I can get Ann to join us.

Not much of a story. They had been out all day. It got late were ready to head for Grandma’s house and this buck stepped out.

But I’ll tell you one of mine. My uncles have a mining cabin we use to hunt from in the fall. One year my brother in law came up to hunt and we drove up to the trail head and started for the cabin. My BIL is a lot out of shape and at the last corner and short straight uphill to the ridge where the cabin sits I had stopped to wait for him to catch up. While I was waiting this pine grouse appeared. Hopped up on a stump and was looking at me. I got my rifle up and about then my BIL got there. He whispered what do you see? I whispered you see that grouse? I’m going to shoot his head off and we’ll eat him for lunch. So I take aim and was ready to pull the trigger when I heard this little sound. I looked over my scope and there is a nice buck standing up the hill looking straight down at us. I raised my rifle a little higher and shot him under the chin. My BIL, concentrating on the bird, slaps my back and says HAR HAR smart-a.. you missed! And this deer comes rolling down the hill. He says WTF??!! WHERE DID THAT COME FROM??? He hasn’t gotten over it. And I still laugh about it.
