Newt Gingrich will be in St. Louis on Monday fundraising for Missouri Senate candidate Todd Akin, a source close to the former House speaker confirmed.
>snip<
I think Todd Akin was the choice of the people in Missouri, and Todd Akin has publicly apologized, Gingrich said. I just think people ought to be a little cautious about saying the voters of Missouri dont count.
Rick Tyler, one of Gingrichs longest serving aides and former member of Gingrichs super PAC, Winning Our Future, is now working on Akins campaign.
Currently Akin is being outspent 10 to 1. One source told ABC News that Akin booked only $50,000 in TV advertisements for next week, with only one to two stations per market and no cable. In contrast, McCaskill is running $500,000 per week in both broadcast and cable.

I can imagine Akin going independent after kicking McCaskills arse.
Gingrich and Palin: working to get real conservatives elected to the senate.
Priebus and Cornyn: would be very happy with moderates or democrats getting elected.
Pleased to see Newt step up for a valuable conservative voice.
You forget Moderate Republican Rule 124: "If a Conservative is winning, find an excuse not to support him so you can be buddies with your friends across the aisle"
Or "Thou salt always work against the conservatives, even if it helps the democrats."
Priebus: GOP Not Going to Play in MO with Todd Akin (No RNC Money for Akin)
Unfortunately, a few folks on FR seem to think he will petition the court. Sorry to disappoint them.
The Presidential ballots were certified on Sept. 17. The military overseas ballots shipped on the 22nd of Sept. And tomorrow the general absentee ballots are shipped.
So for all those in Rio Linda, or of similar mind-set...Todd Akin is the Republican Senatorial candidate from Missouri! Either vote for, and $upport him, or give Mother McCaskill SIX more years to implement the agenda of the Imposter from Mombasa...
He should have dropped out, there were several other candidates that conservatives would have rightfully supported in his place. This is not simply a GOPe viewpoint, it's the view of Michelle Malkin, Mark Levin and a lot of other genuine hard core conservatives.
Since he stayed in, he will have to figure out how to win with less money. At this point I hope he can do it, but his obstinant decision to stay in light of what he brought on him self is a conundrum not easily solved. Claiming it's the fault of the GOPe is far from the truth (and yes, I despise Rove too).
More moderate rationalization.
It really doesn’t interest me.
Sorry, no sale, Akin put himself in this position, and not the moderates.
YEP -- YEP -- YEP
Crazy Akin's supporters love PPP, the Dem pollster, for having McCaskill up only 1... in a poll nearly a month old that helped convince Akin to stay in just as it was designed to.
Gingrich - Doing the job the tepid GOP-E simply won’t do.
Are they memorized or just pre-programmed into your computer???
Do you chant those every morning during meetings with the boss???
Good for Newt!!!!
I love Newt.
Akin needed no convincing to “stay in.” He was anyway. Period...
No, what he said was stupid- to a liberal Journalist- but it was not WRONG (what he MEANT at least)
So... the GOP establishment needs to GROW SOME BALLS and start standing up to the libtard whorenalists.
RE:Your tagline...could not the same be applied to Akin vs. McCaskill?
I have a new found respect for Akin simply because he DID decide to stay. That took an immense amount of courage, not ego. He was ridiculed, shunned and ignored by a vast majority of pubs and he’s still in there. This is the kind of guy we need in the Senate! I admit, I was one of the ones who screamed for him to leave too.
What makes you think any of that matters? That's why Akin would have to pay for ballot printing. He's not going anywhere and he'll lose.
Grow up. He’s got an R behind his name. Accorcding to the GOPe that means you should support him no mater what.
I’ve heard them argue this for decades.
Jim DeMint said his pac may give Akin some money.
I blame the GOPe for that.
She is not up by 6 in that poll according to Rasmussen's fine print internals. 4% of that poll are in the "other" category which means that they think that Akin will resign by the 25th and their dream candidate will be appointed. By the 25th that dream will hit reality and their only "other" than Claire will be Akin.
The actual Rasmussen poll is 49 -- 47 -- within 2.
That's neck and neck, especially when the GOPe is paying Rasmussen for those polls.
It is a done deal now. Handle it.
We can call them and ask them to do that: (877) 838-9388
I cannot believe how many “conservatives” are going to let the media write the narrative for them. Do you think Romney should drop out because the MSM decided the “47%” thing is a gaffe?
However, that doesn't mean that he can win this race, he can't. He will not get critical moderate, independent, and women voters, and McCaskill's $500K a week will keep the issue alive through election day. Since he has refused to leave, conservatives should support him for the good of the party and for longer term objectives. But, this race is over and will be remembered for its resemblance to other monumental foul ups like Sharon Angle and Christine O'Connor.
In his debate with her last Friday he demolished her. He came off as knowledgeable and reasoned and she as shrill and whiny. I have to believe it was worth a few points in the polls.
Will be anxiously awaiting the first Rasmussen poll and others taken post 25th of Sept.
He can win this thing. Karl Rove and the GOPe are willing to cede the seat to a Democrat rather than not get their way.
I think the only vote he will not get are the hardcore RINO votes -- the sore losers who could not intimidate him to resign and will thus withhold their money and vote in hopes that he will lose so that they can say: "na na na -- I told you he couldn't win".
Do you know any of those people???
A little party support from the GOPe’s littlest prince??? Prince Forbid.
Priebus: GOP Not Going to Play in MO with Todd Akin (No RNC Money for Akin)
It would be “very interesting” to see how stupid moves like this effect RNC fund Raising. That is the RNC’s internal statistics on fund raising.
I know it stopped my contributions several years ago.
Um, Palin told Akin to drop out not too long ago.
“I have a new found respect for Akin simply because he DID decide to stay.”I agree with you all the way.
I have thought this from the begining. He has got a spine and guts, which few have.
Unfortunately I don't live in MO so I can't help without voter fraud and there are other races I will work for that are more important to me.
I'm describing what happened and how Akin brought this on himself, and it's true.
Since he stayed in I'd urge anyone to vote for him at this point over McCaskill. I'm glad Newt is fund raising for him, at this point he's going to be the candidate. I hope he wins.
I was referring to her helping conservatives in other elections. But you’re right about she and Akin. And she was right that Steelman would have been better.
In any case, the NRSC and the RNC have not been helping conservatives get nominated.
“Jim DeMint said his pac may give Akin some money.”
Good!!! I hadn’t read that. Thank you for the information.
I also love Jim DeMint.
Newt youre worth 100 of Willard and hs cohorts...
My sarcasm was amimed at the GOPe not you.
They’ve been lecturing us for years it’s our conservative duty to support all Rs. I’d say this is the last straw except that straw was borken years ago for me.
“Karl Rove and the GOP are willing to cede the seat to a Democrat rather than not get their way.” YUP that’s the problem. Un-freakin’-believable!
I think that I will wage war with the Democrats, not with the Republicans.
If only Reince Priebus and John Cornyn thought that way.
But again. could not your tagline apply to Akin vs. McCaskill as well?
I gotta agree with you on that.
Akin wasn’t my candidate in the primary and I think his comments were despicable. (IMO what he was getting at was if it was a ‘legitimate’ rape that the woman didn’t enjoy, her body would reject a pregnancy, and thus real pregnant rape victims don’t exist as a category, thus negating the need to consider them in the abortion question.)
But it’s clear that the GOPe had already targeted him and used this as a beyond flimsy excuse to first try to bump him, but now make an example of him to any candidate and pol who might start thinking other than exactly what they tell him or her to think.
The enemy of my enemy in this case becomes my friend.
Who knows? Gingrich’s efforts might give him a razor-thin victory that would give the GOP the Senate—however little the GOPe deserves it.
This is the same syndrome we have with Romney. He's a Mormon, he's too rich, he's too something, so I'd rather vote for a communist, Muslim, that wasn't even born here, that is dismantling our country. That'll show them.
