Sorry to sound so cold but the guy was using homemade bombs for fishing? Where he’s obviously quite talented as a machinist he couldn’t come up with, oh say, a net?

I’m happy for him that he survived but one has to wonder if he learned anything from the experience or did he just build his own prosthetics so he can go back to making his own bombs?

Obviously you have never been poor or hungry. This is why we should be so grateful to be Americans. Point is, he makes bombs himself rather than buying them at Bombs-R-Us, because he is poor. He uses bombs to fish, because bombs kill fish easily and he is hungry. It's very simple and very smart. It takes a certain kind of first world hubris to sit back and disparage his reasoning when you can't even begin to imagine the situation or the choices.

He wasn't choosing whether to window shop at Macy's or go blow up some fish. He wasn't choosing to go cow tipping or blow up some fish. He wasn't choosing to download the latest app or go blow up some fish. He was choosing whether to eat or not.
