I see an error in the time stamps on the lineup. The Mercury Theatre is billed in a half-hour time slot, but it's an hour-long show, so the air time of the last two shows are off by a half-hour. I have the correct air times below.

Alan Ladd, Frank Hertosig (writer), Rudy Schrager (composer, conductor), Sylvia Picker, Ted Hediger (director), Vern Carstensen (production supervisor). 26:30.

10:30 PM The Mysterious Traveler. September 24, 1944. Mutual net. "Death Laughs Last". Sustaining. A man needs $1500 for a brain surgeon to save his wife's life, but the money is not that easy to get. The story has a fine ironic ending. The "Traveler" jumps his sound effects cue at the end of the show. Jock MacGregor speaks on behalf of the National War Fund. An announcement is made that on October 7th, the show will switch to Saturdays at 10:30 P.M. (Eastern). The script was used on the program three years later and on "The Sealed Book" on September 9, 1945. Maurice Tarplin (as "The Traveler"), Robert A. Box 13 stars Alan Ladd. Great voice. Plays a columnist that solicits "problems" (to Box 13, can't remember at the paper, or PO) so he can solve the mystery, and get a story out of it.

Generally better than most of its genre, IMHO.

Hi, Vision. Yeah, I guess you’re right. Steel’s sources were better than mine, more detailed (I repeat myself), but his would be a welcomed-back re-addition.

Our week was fine. We got a few inches of rain spread out over the week. Still hot, of course, though.

I hope you have a good time in Miami, although you’ll probably work mostly—or conference it, which may be boring; I don’t know. At least you’ll probably get to eat something nice! :-)

We don’t have a barbecue lined up, because we were both lame and didn’t get anything at the store. It’s been a lazy-butt weekend, and I’m slow getting the housework and laundry done today. Even your leftovers sound great—plus a cherry cobbler! YUMMMM!!!! We may do some Bubba Burgers on the grill.

If you restart a lawn I think it's standard to kill off the grass.

  11/2-3/55 The Valentine Matter Bob Bailey, Lillian Buyeff, Betty Lou Gerson, Barney Phillips (Inspector Charles Debacca), Will Wright, Forrest Lewis, Marvin Miller, Jay Novello, Jack Moyles ; Writer - John Dawson ; Producer/Director - Jack Johnstone ; Announcer - Roy Rowan ; Expense Account Total - $1290.38 ; Johnny is sent to New Orleans to investigate a theft by Roy Vickers, New Britain Mutual Insurance Company, Hartford. However, he finds that the matter has been solved before he arrives. While in New Orleans he recognizes Dan Valentine, an ex-gangster from the 1920s who has just finished a 13 year stretch in prison and who is trying to go straight. He spends his time painting, and is leading an exemplary life, now. Valentine catches two bullets after talking to Dollar. It is not the kind of Valentine you would wish on your worst enemy. His life is insured by New Britain for $50,000 - so Vickers asks him to stick around. Valentine's estranged wife, going by the name of Ann Ward, and living in New England, comes to New Orleans to see her husband. Valentine skips out of the hospital. Word arrives that Valentine and his wife have been shot dead with .375 Rombero pistol bullet. Dollar meets their daughter Theresa Ward and falls for her. Her father had set aside a $50,0000 trust fund for her before going to prison. Valentine's attorney, Conrad Webster, is found shot to death with the same .375 bullet near Lake Ponchatrain. Later, as Dollar is walking with Theresa along a path two men shoot her to death. Johnny shoots back immediately killing one, Darby Cheanti, and mortally wounding the other, Cisco Cheanti. Their father, Pietro Cheanti, shows up at the morgue. He is Ann Ward Valentine's father. He had all four killed - because Dan Valentine had been a "bad man, who did bad things".

Fiction writer Holiday receives a ticket to a radio broadcast, which leads to the threatening of his life and the murder of a beautiful actress. Free lance adventure writer Dan Holiday , a former reporter for the Star-Times Newspaper, is behind in the chapters of his new book to his publisher. Suzy, Dan's secretary, who also used to work at the same newspaper, brings him the mail from Box 13. Dan is invited to an 8 PM radio broadcast at Federal Broadcasting Studios by actress Jean Blake. She claims she is in grave danger of being killed. Holiday then receives a phone threat that he will be killed if he attempts to help Blake. Later, when talking to over-the-hill actor Marvin Masterson, Holiday receives another call from a frightened Blake. A clock sounding Westminister Abbey chimes are heard in the back, and then Dan hears three gunshots that kill her. Dan rushes right over to Blake's place. She is dead. A guard has been near her door for 6 hours but heard no shots. Later the coroner tells Holiday that she had been dead over 12 hours when he received that call. It turns out to have been a recording that was used to provide an alibi for Masterson who was professionally jealous of Blake.(Synd) (26:18)

It must be different up there with lawns than down here. Down here, the only time a lawn is replaced is if it is dead or someone just wants new or different grass.

We have installed sod in new and existing yards, and we use a sod cutter to remove any existing grass or weeds, before laying the new sod.
