“Since all of NJ telephone and internet connections are routed through NYC switching, I would guess that Mayor B has instituted a daily limit on the number of calls allowed ... for your own good of course!”

what will that food Nazi do next!!!

His crew must have heard me and my spy in his office talking about him.

“Resistance is futile............”

Maybe it is, but today at least it's (Conservative resistance camaraderie) been fun.

Thanks for another laugh.

I’m prejudiced because my Dad was a lifelong telephone man.

But I remember our Bell System landline being pretty much 99.997% reliable.

Our internet based phone (BrightHouse Indiana) is not nearly as good.

It's worse than that. Bloomie tapped your webcam and saw you filling a bowl with Chex Mix.

Prepare for the dynamic entry in 1 ... 2 ... 3 ...

(all your glasses and mugs over 16 oz.s have been confiscated)

I’ll admit I know little to nothing about where lines come and go from one system to another, but I thought this may be a good reason. And the only reason I suggested it was from previous experience with Comcast. I remember a couple of times over the years they went down and had widespread problems and blamed the outage on AT&T, or someone like that, saying much of their data runs on a network other than theirs. Since your event happened the same time as mine, I just figured I’d throw out what I was told by AT&T.

Hope you are up and running smoothly now. Nothing worse than having phone or internet service pulled out from under you when so much of your life revolves around those two items.

My well connected spouse here in Texas says that Fort Myers Florida telephone service was out this morning too.

Hmmm. Gotta watch this.

I know you were concerned. I too wish I understood “the backbone” better, especially how the different providers have it divided up, and where, at what points, is “my stuff” on the AT&T segments, or the Verizon segments, or someone elses; or does nobody really know for sure, from one call or packet to the next, because humans at AT&T and Verizon are not making those decisions, the logic in the algorithms in their network communications routers, in the given traffic context each second, are deciding the routing to A next point. I don't know.

The landline calls to other states came available for us while I was making my first comment-response on this thread.

If I had not been trying to call friends and family in both Southern and Northern California today, I would not have even known this issue existed, for the period of time today that it did.
