Ceiling cat is pleased, too.

“We favor giving cats saints’ names. (Martin, Jean-Marie, Dominic)”

LOL, I had to respond to this post.

My third grade teacher Sr. Corona surely would not approve of you!

She thought that giving animals saint’s names was NOT TO BE DONE.

Of course she actually mentioned this once, which is why I remember it. She recommended “Battleship” as a name for a dog, and it might be a good name for a dog, a rather fierce dog which would be the only kind of dog the rather fierce Sr. Corona would ever have.

Here’s my other great story about her: as I say she was my teacher in 3rd grade and part of our math course for that year was going to be about money. How many dimes in a dollar, pennies in a nickel, making change, etc.

Well, Sister said that she had noticed this was the next lesson and that she intended to skip over it because she was quite sure we all knew this stuff cold already. As I recall she said: An immigrant will come to America and he will say I no speak-a-da-English....but don’t try to short change him, because he’ll be wise to that immediately.

Of course she was right, we did know all about money but we were hoping she was bluffing because of course that part was going to be easy.

Well, shortly enough we got up to that chapter and she said, OK, like I said: skip that and it’s on to chapter 4.

She made a strong impression on me. I’m sure she’s gone to her reward and I certainly hope she’s found no slackers in Heaven, because she just wouldn’t put up with it.

Excuse the ramble!

There is a School of Animal Naming to annoy unimaginative people. For example, name the kittens Bulldog and Pitbull, or, say, Doggie and Pooch.

I named my male and female pups Reagan and Maggie for the 2 most influential people in my life.

Congratulations! Your kittehs will bring you much joy.

Most cats have a way of naming themselves. I had a pair of brothers from Dayton—Orville and Wilbur.

Suggested names to consider: Yin and Yang

For names, I suggest Alrik and Giermund. Two traditional Viking names.

Then, I propose taking a picture of them with little Viking horn hats on, and posting the pic. We need a fresh new Viking Kitties picture to Zot with!

“And apparently she doesn’t speak a word of English...”

Have you contacted homeland security or the democratic party to make sure that kitteh has it’s voting rights respected?

Our feral female was named Squeak because she had an upper respiratory infection and laryngitis when we brought her into the house and took her to the vet. Now, she and her brother are the most “talkative” cats I’ve ever heard.

The Naming of Cats

The Naming of Cats is a difficult matter,
It isn’t just one of your holiday games;
You may think at first I’m as mad as a hatter
When I tell you, a cat must have THREE DIFFERENT NAMES.

First of all, there’s the name that the family use daily,
Such as Peter, Augustus, Alonzo or James,
Such as Victor or Jonathan, or George or Bill Bailey -
All of them sensible everyday names.

There are fancier names if you think they sound sweeter,
Some for the gentlemen, some for the dames:
Such as Plato, Admetus, Electra, Demeter -
But all of them sensible everyday names.

But I tell you, a cat needs a name that’s particular,
A name that’s peculiar, and more dignified,
Else how can he keep up his tail perpendicular,
Or spread out his whiskers, or cherish his pride?

Of names of this kind, I can give you a quorum,
Such as Munkustrap, Quaxo, or Coricopat,
Such as Bombalurina, or else Jellylorum -
Names that never belong to more than one cat.

But above and beyond there’s still one name left over,
And that is the name that you never will guess;
The name that no human research can discover -
But THE CAT HIMSELF KNOWS, and will never confess.

When you notice a cat in profound meditation,
The reason, I tell you, is always the same:
His mind is engaged in a rapt contemplation
Of the thought, of the thought, of the thought of his name:

His ineffable effable
Effanineffable
Deep and inscrutable singular Name.
