If so what did you do to rid yourself of them?
I’ll probably just vote Republican, but that means we’ll all have to put up with them for 6 more months.

I’ve seen some here too lately. Very small, almost gnat sized. Hard to kill except with a spray. I think it is a holdover from the warm winter. I have a bug zapper, but they’re too small for it.

Yourself of them? Or your yard.. Sounds like fruit flies to me. Do you have rotten fruit in your kitchen or your yard? Look around!

I think the second plague is frogs....

Indoor plants seem to be the attraction, but they are new this year.
I just swat and smash.
As a matter of fact, yes. I leave a dim lamp on in my room and I go in often and see them hanging out in the spot of light on the wall. You have to sneak up on them to smash them, as they leap away like a tick. I have no idea how they get in.
I had them last year and only seemed to get rid of them by spraying flying bug spray in the vents and window seals outside my house. It might have just coincided with the end of their season, as spraying the same areas haven’t stopped them this year. There do seen to be fewer, so I guess I’ll keep it up.

Open your doors and windows. Boil a combo of vinegar and water, they will leave pronto.
I had a problem with tiny flys but then I
stopped washing in hot water, now there’s no problem.
I haven’t had any until now, just saw one on my computer screen...
Ahh, just get a smaller bug zapper. ;-)

Get a can of hairspray...seriously. Mist a cloud around them and it gums up their wings, and they fall to the floor.

Yes, I have them! They get into everything. So small they get into a closed (previously opened) package of bread.I use bug spray when there are a lot in one place. Aren’t they fruit flies?
Get some hummingbirds - they love those small little gnat/flies. I do not know how to get hummingbirds out of the house though.
I see them at the opposite end of my house from the kitchen. Should I boil it and bring the pan to the bedroom?
They do look like fruit flies from a search I did. I do have a pear tree in the backyard that drops not very tasty pears. I’ve neglected them on the ground, but I better pick them up.

I’m in the Dallas area. These guys don’t seem to do anything but hang out on the wall, but I’ll be glad to see the last of them.
Yeah, I’ve tried taking a shower, but it doesn’t seem to discourage the little effers.
This is the second summer in a row that I have been plagued by the bastids.
My advice:
Never leave dirty dishes in the sink
Put all fruit and veggies in fridge
Vacuum the little buggies up; this works well with the vacuum hose
Clean out your sink drains
Put some rotten fruit in a shallow bowl, add some water and detergent; they will fly in but can’t fly out.
Get rid of any plants in your kitchen
Use raid, that’ll show ‘em who’s the boss
As a last resort, just become friends with them. You can never have enough friends
Are they indoors or outdoors?
If indoors, buy a can of RAID home and garden. It beats fly swatters and fly paper hands down. You have to find the source of their breeding if they are indoors. I had a problem with tiny flies not too long ago in my house and I tracked the problem down to a drain I did not use. They were laying eggs in the drain of a sink that had some slime in it. The faucet had a real slow drip that provided enough moisture to grow slime in the drain and the fly larva was feeding on that slime. To get rid of them all i had to do was run the water in that sink for 20 minutes and then dump some drano down the drain.
Only works in daylight conditions, unfortunately. Don't face the laser, and wear flash cream on the back of your neck.
Home depot carries fly traps. Its a plastic bag that you put water in. The flys go in and can’t get out. The grandkids like watching the flys fly around inside the bag
Tiny flies + mini gun = problem solved.
I had them in my basement, and the flew around my PC. I put up several of the sticky flytraps. They caught hundreds in about a week, and I think I got rid of them.
put out a shallow bowl of water with a few drops of fruit juice in it an one drop of dish soap — flies will land in the water and drown — soap breaks the surface tension so they can’t take off again
Take a small plastic cup, like a medicine cup.
Put a small amount of honey in bottom of cup
Fill with apple cider vinegar
Mix in a little bit of dish soap.
The honey and apple cider vinegar attract them. When they land on the surface, the soap breaks the surface tension and they sink like stones to the bottom and are drowned.

We use this method except we use apple cider vinegar and honey instead of fruit juice.

Put a glass of beer out, covered in saran wrap, and poke a hole in the top with a pencil.
If you lay down with dogs you get fleas.
Fly paper...seriously.
Hang a strip near where they hang out...in mere seconds, they will start to get caught.
The fly paper is also dirt cheap, compared to sprays, etc.
I solved mine by kicking out the ex-girlfriend.
Are you sure they’re “flies” .. might be fleas.
A guy in Oregon was bitten by a cat who had eaten a rat that was infected with fleas - fleas with Bubonic plague.
Maybe you need to catch a few of these “flies” and have them tested.
We have something of a Mosquito epidemic with some deaths resulting from the virus they harbor here in DFW. You also have untenable critter problems. Thus, how about a trade? Our West Nile Virus carrying mosquitoes for your tiny fly infestation and an insect swarm to be named later. Think about it.
First, you’ve got to find the food source they are eating, otherwise if you get rid of them, they’ll just be back. For very small flies, it could be something you wouldn’t expect, like a container of grain/rice/cereal that they are able to get into. For bigger ones, it could be a dead mouse or something like that in your walls or basement that they are feeding off of.
Once you get rid of whatever they are eating, and make sure there isn’t any other food they can get to, then they will die off pretty quick. If you need to get rid of them faster, you can just fog up the rooms where they are with flying insect spray, and leave them closed up for a few hours. Then, just make sure that you ventilate those parts of your house for 6-8 hours before you go back in there, so you don’t make yourself sick. Also, make sure to rinse off kitchen countertops, stove, pots & pans, etc if you spray in the kitchen, because you don’t want that stuff getting in your food.
