Why Obamacere Will Fail

Why Obamacare will fail-a reading list

The Supreme Court today upheld "Obamacare," a massive economic intervention ostensibly designed to cure the ills of American healthcare. Of course those ills were themselves caused by intervention, and this "cure" will only make the situation even worse. The "cycle of interventionism" Mises warned us about continues to intensify.

As Murray Rothbard wrote,

Our very real medical crisis has been the product of massive government intervention, state and federal, throughout the century; in particular, an artificial boosting of demand coupled with an artificial restriction of supply. The result has been accelerating high prices and deterioration of patient care. And next, socialized medicine could easily bring us to the vaunted medical status of the Soviet Union: everyone has the right to free medical care, but there is, in effect, no medicine and no care.

We have put together this healthcare reading list so as to help the concerned citizen understand how we got where we are, and where we are likely headed if we continue on this path.

Obamacare will ultimately fail because it gives the government the right to rule you instead of offering greater choices to individuals about their health and wellbeing.

I love the Von Mises Institute. Always so spot on.

They are correct Obamacare WILL fail, the only question is. What will be the repercussions? Decline, Dictatorship, Civil War, other forms of Pain and Suffering?

I suppose that question is in G-Ds Hands.

“to” the status of? no. it will be much worse.
in Russia, they didn’t have almost 50% of the population,
exempt from paying taxes to support healthcare, etc.
-
in Russia, they didn’t have 20 million illegals,
getting free food, housing, medicial care, etc.
-
(2% of illegals here pick crops. 29% get welfare.)
-
in Russia, they didn’t have an EPA declaring that CO2
(plant food), is a “dangerous pollutant.
causing regulations to shut down electric plants,
and increase the cost of energy, to everyone.
-
yet socialism still collapsed them.
it will do so here, faster...

In spite of all the resignation, I see Obamacare failing for the following reason: Start by considering just a short list of the current entitlements/benefits/programs/bureaucracies in place.
Social Security
Medicare
Medicaid
Food Stamps
Subsidized loans
Grants
Etc, etc.

Now we know that the expansion of federal government has lead to an unsustainable fiscal position of growing deficits and public debt. Everyone knows and recognizes this, and it will fall upon any administration to deal with it when the day of reckoning (very soon) arrives. Just before we plummet into a Grecian abyss, it will be the unpleasant task of Congress to begin pulling plugs on the aforementioned sacred cows. Which one do you think they will dismantle first? The popular programs that have been around for years and that for good or worse many have become dependent on, or the most recent one that only about a third of the voting public likes?

We are in for some hard economic times. We can forestall them by borrowing and printing more, but it will only make the final accounting worse. The only positive out of this is any more socialism *cannot* be implemented in the U.S. because it is too late, we are already out of other people’s money to spend.
