I would guess that it would be enough to say that the company is not doing well in this difficult economy and that you need to lay someone off. I think it’s your choice to lay off whoever you judge happens to be least useful to the company at the present time.

Boeing did a great thing several years ago. They said they were dropping the lower health care plans because ObamaCare would take them, and besides, they voted for it. They also increased the benefits for the upper healthcare plans for those that are not typically Zero voters.
Be sure your grievances with him are documented. Do NOT use his politics as a reason for dismissal. It must be work related, or an economic decision. The fact you still have two women liberals on payroll will be a plus on your side should he suspect politics had a hand in it.
If you really mean it, do it smart. Document every shortcoming, every unfinished task, every argument with other employees.

Being a liberal is a protected class if some judge wants it to be. But always remember, it is often not necessary to have a winning argument in civil litigation. They key is how much Hell you can put the other side through in the process.
And if your liberal employee has the wits to file a complaint pro se, you'll find the judge will bend over backwards to give him leeway, since he is not bound by the lawyers' code of conduct.
Ask me about the time that I was a defendant in a $45 million lawsuit, and acted to defend myself pro se. I put the plaintiffs through so much Hell that they finally agreed to settle with me for $1,200. And they soon after dropped the suit against the other defendants.
It took two years, but I finally got to them. I had a great time writing pleadings just to run up expenses on the other side.

When the smarmy little lib cries that you can’t do that because of free speech protections under the Bill of Rights, make sure to remind him that the Bill of Rights has no applicability to private enterprise. And so far, liberals are not a protected class when it comes to discrimination.

If I had employees I would do the same thing you are. I am so angry right now that I don’t think I will be able to function today. No, angry is not a strong enough word. But for the sake of argument; there is discrimination and there is illegal discrimination. Discrimination based upon race, color, or creed is illegal. Discrimination based upon some other criterion may not be.
For example, it is an act of discrimination to decide to crap outside of your pants versus inside your pants. But neither is illegal.

Thank you. I won’t strangle them because that would require touching them. No I don’t care who they are they will never see me again. It will mean missing out on a lot of family events but I am serious and I will let them know why I am not attending. I am starting to feel like I want to sell everything I own and move as far away from other people as I can get. I am starting to hate my own species.
