Yeah, what was the motive there, or was it just some Oprah viewer free-lancing? A little early for battlefield preparation... although spending a little effort looking for a match with Dee-Dee's voice might prove enlightening.
It was long before the national media picked up the story. There would barely have been time for a local report on the case.
Yeah, two days. The call’s reported as having gone to an investigator, but it’s not clear if it was direct. The fact they had no callback number, though, would indicate it didn’t come through 911. On day 5, Daddy said he had a lawyer, whether earlier I don’t know.
There’s a recording of part of the call available for match purposes.

When I see a young black boy walking down the street, I say a quick prayer for him, that he’ll avoid a future like the one you just described.
I can only speculate it was within proximity of the gated community. Somewhere on the street/road/highway, within walking distance, just outside the gated community.
My point was how nervous the clerk appeared. I think he feared TeeRon was going to rob him. Stoned hooded black guy. If so, his fears were not unfounded. Rather, his fears were based soundly on statistical probabilities.
Here’s my theory. I think TeeRon was thinking he would rob the store. But, for whatever reason, he “chickened out.” Then, when Zman came onto the scene, TeeRon, frustrated by his own inadequacy as a criminal juvee, determined to take out his frustration on Zman. Otherwise, he would have simply explained to Zman he was there visiting his father’s girlfriend in unit number xxxx. Like any of us would do.
There are a few candidates, but nothing "just outside the gates". I've compared the distances of stores that I've seen mentioned, or located myself with Google Maps, but none of them are very close. I think the most likely one is the Upsala Grocery, due east. It's over a mile away, though, by sidewalk. To me the general appearance of the store interior is consistent with an independent store like this, which we have to assume then is being referred to generically as a "7-11".

Yeah, you could see a lot going on there.

There was discussion about his appearing to have asked for cigarettes, and being refused. I thought then that this may have put him in a vengeful mood.
