Federal officials say the National Christmas Tree planted near the White House a year ago has died and is being removed.
The National Park Service says the Colorado blue spruce died of "transplant shock." It came from a tree farm in New Jersey last year and was planted on the Ellipse just south of the White House in March 2011.

Check for borers, about 4-6ft up the trunk. Holes a coat hanger tip would fit into, with pink/black slime oozing out. Maggot (larvae) inside, needs squashing, or it’ll hatch into moth and infest your other trees. Ram a coat hanger end into the hole and see if it comes out “clean”.
Well, Michelle could have used more than 1 tree and spread it around for crying out loud!

You give them too much credit; but you’re right, they should. It’d be a great ad to compare side-by-side with the dying US Economy.
