Federal officials say the National Christmas Tree planted near the White House a year ago has died and is being removed.

The National Park Service says the Colorado blue spruce died of "transplant shock." It came from a tree farm in New Jersey last year and was planted on the Ellipse just south of the White House in March 2011.

For some reason this headline just made me think of a great graphic. Ms. Elizabeth Warren as the American Indian with a tear rolling down her cheek like in the old commercial.

Come on, dying national Xmas tree, crying Indian—not that great a leap!

The tree was a free-loader, just sitting there expecting others to provide it and “save” it. Why can’t it get off its trunk and support itself? We need capitalistic trees that believe in individual freedom and own guns. Not socialist trees that just sit there, occupying the lawn, doing nothing. Lazy piece of wood!

“Barack is the Harvey Updyke of Washington.”

Wasn’t the Alabama football team at the White House a couple of weeks ago? Just sayin’.

The practice of making an idol from the trunk of a tree is more of a sign that what you suggest.

Too much amonia (like chicken/bird manure) in any fertilizer will kill a living plant. But who knows what the Chi-Comms put into their stuff? Like their dogfood?

"You know what would be kind of cool, if Romney wins he’ll go to church at the fabulous looking Mormon cathedral that always looks so great when you come around the beltway."

Considering how much Christian doctrine is denied by Mormons, I'm afraid I wouldn't consider that "cool" at all.

Oh, fir goodness sakes, can't we leave ole Barky alone for once?

Some of yew are always needling him....just because he's so poplar.

He'll have the White House all spruced up for Holly Day on December 25, so let's knot pine about a dead National Tree today.

The presidential front yard will look fantas-teak.....despite the ash inside

Probably shock that it had to endure Christmas ornaments depicting an effing communist like Mao on them. (yes I know it’s the outside tree, give it a break)
