I can tell that Freerepublic has started spiraling into hysteria similar to what I sensed around the 2008 election time.... I'll check back in in 2013 to see if things simmered down.

Simply put: Yes. Many, many FReepers have done that very same thing now that the numbers are turning out for Romney. Sadly the idea of conservatives having principles is, more and more, giving way to conservatives having a party affiliation.

I wish I was surprised by the number of "conservatives" who said just months or weeks ago that they couldn't support Romney but who now are. Even our side is turning squishy. To me, that's what disheartens me the most. We can't win if we don't bother to fight.

Yep. I have no idea about the number of those FReepers, but several were under the mistaken thinking or emotion, that Jim would be ABO, and that's never going to be the case when it comes to Romney, and God bless him for it.

Everyone here should know precisely the principles upon which Free Republic was built and emphatically stands, and in turn, should easily see than Romney is the anathema to all.

Sorry to see them prematurely leave, given that the liberal, liar abortionist hasn't even successfully bought the nomination yet, but good to know that most were Party Firster's and not actually conservatives. The GOP-E counts on folks like them to rally 'round their moderate's every 4 years.

We did it in '08 because of Sarah Palin. NOT this year, provided they're successful. (Still praying and almost non-stop).
