BOULDER, Colo. -- With grand designs on minimizing their housing footprint, Christopher Smith and Merete Mueller have spent the last 10 months building the tiny home of their dreams.
"It's 19 feet long wall to wall, Smith said. The interior square-footage is about 125 square feet.
The interior layout consists of a sitting area, kitchen and bathroom. A vaulted ceiling makes room for a sleeping loft that can accommodate a queen-size mattress
I’ve already got one of these - it’s called a shed.

I kind of like living large myself.
Housing footprint?.....Sweet Jesus!
Since they hate the US, capitalism, “racism” et al so much, I think their next craze should be emigration. Lots of it, over a relatively short period.
It wouldn’t meet code in most states. Minimum dimension of each wall of a room must be 7 feet.
At any rate..this fits the means of the Obama generation. Small jobs, small income, food stamps and a tiny rabbit hutch for a house.
However, my kids will choose not to participate in this depression.
Man, you couldn’t escape a fart.
Cool house actually. It would be great to have something like this back in the woods to get away from the wife/gf.
Sorta like an adult tree house.
When they die...just bury the house.
Why would you even try, when you’ve got a five gallon bucket full of peatmoss, sawdust, and crap a few feet away!
ping
Umm...âcomposting toiletsâ (outhouses) weren’t meant to be inside. They’ll find out why the first time stomach flu or the galloping trots hit. Their shack will be uninhabitable for days.
I literally have a Hallway in my apartment that is bigger than their whole house.
Whenever you observe the whack left in full bloom...It’s always total lunacy on parade!
Just wait till that shitter blows sky high from methane gas and a stove match!
Typical silliness from 13 sq. miles of funkiness surrounded by reality.
CLASSY Family Room!
At least it’s got space!
Looks like they had enough materials left over to build another one. I’m sure they’ll throw it in a landfill somewhere. So much for a small footprint.
Also looks like they built it in a slum.
Finally, I don’t see a lot of windows for cross ventilation. Gonna’ get hot this summer.
Any one of stalls for my horses are bigger than that shed of theirs. Smug lib turds.
Obama houses $999.99
It’s beyond idiotic all the way to....Off the reservation stupid!
Heck, why not just buy a surplus quonset hut? Plenty of room, the exterior will last forever, and you can put the glorified port-a-potty at the far end so you aren’t gagging everytime the temp tops 40 degrees F.
(Hey, it makes more sense than their looney design!)
Great practice for when we eventually fall into collectivism. Only then, that house will fit 3 families.
Like all Libtards they will abandon this cute little mistake within a couple of months and move into Daddy’s 6,200 SF house, where they will get free shelter, free food, free utilities, free medical care and health insurance, free transportation, free TV and Internet - while they plot their next anti-capitalist statement.
Hell!...you’d get more cross ventilation in a tent! No wonder they could’nt move those hippies out of their Occupy wall street tents....they were on vacation!
Saw something like this on “Extreme RVs”. The company featired was Tumbleweed Tiny Houses. Kinda cool.
To this day, I still don't know why people's houses have to be so big. I mean, if that's what they want, fine, to each his own, but many cities/counties have minimum square footage requirements.
THIS is what the left would love to see all of us in.
Good point!....A house must at least be large enough to disperse fart stench!...good grief!
I’m all for projects such as this if people are looking to save money. Just don’t feed me the “reducing our footprint” baloney.
What altitude is that stupid college at anyway?

Where I live here in Kentucky you see this sort of thing used just for that. Sort of separate “man caves”.
Good on them—the rare sustainability people who are actually attempting to practice what they preach!
This seems to me not far from the libertarian, minimalist-government edge of modern liberalism—which isn’t a bad thing either.
The government will include them in the housing starts data.
10 months to build a garden shed?
same as Denver which almost as many enviro freeks.
I'll see your CU-Boulder and raise you a UC Berkeley ...
LOL! Now there is “CURB APPEAL” for you!

My opinion exactly.
Good grief!....Next craze for these whack lefties will be 3 x 3 cardboard boxes.
Hopefully they will continue to downsize until they disappear:-)
While it was fine, and it made sense at the time (easier to heat a small house in a backwoods Maine winter) I swore that I wasn't going to live in one again.
My place, currently, is huge. It's not me "making a statement", or enjoying an ego trip. I just like it. I love the 10' ceilings in my living room that's big enough to hold a costume ball in. It's nice to get up in the morning and STR-E-T-CH and not scrape my knuckles on the ceiling or the walls.
I've always been a litle claustrophobic. Wonder if that's a learned behavior from where I grew up?
Yeah?...Wait til YOU have to live in one required by the federal government.
