On Sunday’s “Face the Nation” on CBS, Republican presidential hopeful Rick Santorum explained that his view of the Trayvon Martin shooting differed significantly from the one held by former House Speaker Newt Gingrich.
Gingrich was critical of President Barack Obama’s reaction, but Santorum placed the blame on accused shooter George Zimmerman’s mental state.
“Well, you know, obviously, I’m not privy to what’s going on in someone’s mind,” Santorum said. “Obviously, in my opinion, someone … has a very sick mind who would pursue someone like this. This is clearly a heinous act. You know, there are a lot of people who have a lot of distorted views of reality. It’s a tragic, tragic case. And my heart goes out to the parents, too. I can’t imagine what they’re suffering, losing their son in such a horrific way. All I would say is that, whatever the motive is, it was a malicious one, and a very, very tragic one.”

Why have an investigation or trial? Sanctimonious, self-appointed judge Santorum has pronounced Zimmerman guilty.

Santorum is s stupid idiot and needs to drop out now. He is no conservative, just another guilty white liberal.
If Santorum is the nominee I will not vote for him. If Romeny is the nominee, I will not vote for him. Only Newt at this point has my vote, but he isn’t going to be the nominee.
In the meantime Obama has successfully achieved a permanent racial divide in this country where blacks have all the power. Blacks are untouchable. If a black kid points a gun in your face and react in self defense and kill the bastard, you are a deplorable, evil white racist.

Big difference between a poster on FR and a public political figure on national television. If Zimmerman was on trial for murder right now, he would have grounds for mistrial and possible dismissal in his pocket.

Rick’s really been on a roll with the dumbass statements the past few weeks.
He was "off (voluntary) duty" when he saw Trayvon. Zimmerman was also on his way either home or to an errand.
I don't have any issues with him having suspicion. In the tape of him speaking with police dispatch, there is a period of what seems 15-30 seconds where Trayvon is aware he is being watched, and his reaction (according to what Zimmerman says) is to stare at Zimmerman. All this while Zimmerman is sitting in his vehicle. Then Trayvon takes off at a run.
If that sort of thing was going on in my quiet neighborhood, I'd be suspicious too. Burglaries aren't quite as frequent here, but they do occur.

According to the eye witnesses, that’s not what happened. I’m glad we have neighborhood watch people in our neighborhood. The guy tried to call the police to take care of it. That much is documented.

The facts and eyewitness accounts do not support what you said. Lets let all the evidence come out and then we will make a decision based on the evidence.

And, of course that is the national uproar that is going on after the death of that seventeen-year-old Trayvon Martin in Florida. The President made a very personal statement about this. RICK SANTORUM: Well, all I can say is that, you know, again, there are a lot of people who have very-- very perverted views of reality and-- and obviously have, as we see, people who-- who do horrible things for seemingly senseless reasons. And I-- I think it's hard to generalize from one heinous act something that is, you know, try to-- try to make a bigger point out of it. And I think that's probably what Newt was getting at. And I would just say to the President and to everybody that, you know, we need to focus on being there to be supportive and-- and, for the family that's going through this tragedy.

When you demonstrate to us that you were there witnessing the event, I might believe you. Right now, there’s conflicting evidence, and in a free country governed by the rule of law that means we withhold judgment and await the results of an investigation and trial, if the later is warranted.
We are not part of a lynch mob manipulated by the MSM. Or at least Freepers are not; looks like Santorum is.
The difference is Santorum believes what he says.
I've said for months this guys a disaster, and that he wasn't smart enough or savvy enough to run for President, much less BE President, and now here we are.
