Palin says Santorum is not a ‘threat’ to Romney
The Blaze ^ | 2-11-12 | Santerelli

Former Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin stole the show at this year’s Conservative Political Action Conference where she delivered the event’s keynote speech Saturday. After slamming the President, shutting up some protesters, and saying that the drawn out Republican primary promotes competition and a better nominee, the former Alaska governor took a few questions as she headed for the door following the rousing remarks. When asked by Anneke Green of the Washington Times if she thought a surging Sen. Santorum was a threat to front-runner Mitt Romney; “Palin answered that she wouldn‘t consider him a threat but was still ’a good competitor.’”

Green writes that Palin praised the remaining Republican presidential candidates’ willingness to compete and appreciated their efforts as “warriors in the arena.”

While still not offering up an endorsement, Palin has spoken fondly about former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, who she said she would have voted for in the South Carolina Republican primary.

“I happen to know one of the former candidates from this cycle - and that person agrees that Santorum is petty and off putting - and tells me that is what everybody thinks.”

Funny, I hear people say the same words about Newt all the time. Like after Florida.

I happen to know a few people voting this cycle and they aren’t into Newt.

The Newt fans like to paint Santorum like that. Some of the pettiest, most off putting behavior, was Newt’s response after Florida.

But you won’t hear them mention how his whining turned people off.

I guess this BS won’t stop until after Super Tuesday and someone emerges as the ABR candidate.

I guess I will vote for the nominee. LOL

dforest, just for conversation- Friend Rick openly adopts the “Richie Cunningham” persona; to the extent he is “mom and apple pie”, that’s fine—— if he isn’t, then people are going to view him as insincere.

Newt, on the other hand, is “the Fonz” - We all know he’s the “bad boy”, but at the same time, many of us feel he’s the “go-to” guy and the real star of the show.

She praised the men still in the fight she refused to take part in and would rather sit on the sidelines and play king maker.
Newt, Rick and even Mitt put it on the line and even though we dont agree on which one would be best at least they had the balls to put up with the crap rather than get skirt dirty.
So, my advice to Sarah is lead, follow or get out of the way.
Ok...Flame away.....

Santorum as far as I know wasn't sleeping around on his wife during the Clinton impeachment charlie foxtrot. Newt was. Santorum doesn't buy into the global warming crap. Newt's been on a few positions. Newt and Romney both flip flop too much.

Nothing against Palin, but she doesn't dictate my vote. I do. Santorum isn't perfect, but I know what I'm going to get from him. Newt has good Newt and bad Newt and I have to hope there may be good Newt. Romney sucks.

is not conservative except in social areas.

I don't understand why people keep saying this.

He's conservative on national defense issues.

He's conservative on gun issues.

He's not the most fiscally conservative candidate ever, but he's not the big union guy that some on this site like to paint him as. His AFL-CIO rating is 13%. For comparison, Ron Paul's was 19% through 2009.

That's how he's hit me, too. I would vote for him over Romney but that's it.

Palin doesn’t have the credibility she used to.

While I’m glad that she did not run for president, she should have announced her decision earlier and stopped hinting that she would run. We may have had a better field if conservatives didn’t think they had to get out of the way for Palin.

She needs to stop with the movies, tv shows, and dancing with the stars, and get back into office somewhere.

Darren, I haven’t spoken ill of any of our candidates- save Romney. But, as to your point “I know what I’m going to get from {Santorum}”— frankly, I feel the same way about Newt.

Newt masterminded the takeover of Congress after 40 years of socialist Dem rule— that’s just fact. He balanced four budgets, and was the most successful conservative speaker of the house in the past century. So, in 2013, where we are just an inch away from permanently embedding socialism into America through national healthcare, I’m going with the guy who has the documented record of overthrowing socialism.

You feel that having 3 wives is a disqualification- I respect that. My view is, in the face of having future generations grow up in dependency and a socialist society, I can look past a 70 year old man’s past marital problems, in favor of saving the future of the nation.

And meaning no criticism of Rick, he won’t take that stand-—ultimately, he will cooperate with the Boehners and McConnells and Reids-— he did it in the Senate, I would not expect him to change.

Newt won’t give in to any of them. .
