Santorum Now Leads Romney in Michigan February 11th, 2012 | Author: Ben Hart
Rick Santorum now leads Mitt Romney in Michigan the state where Mitts dad was governor, according to a tweet by Public Policy Polling. The PPP tweet says: Santorum topping Romney on the first night of our Michigan poll. This may be the biggest surge yet.
The main question now is whether either Newt or Santorum will be able to win an outright majority or whether the delegates will be so divided up as to have a brokered convention.
Rick has a couple of million to fight off the 20,000,000/state Mitt will pay to buy this nomination.
Keep ... the pressure ... on!
I think it’s great that the race is going on long.
Titan posted the number and names of states that Santorum didn’t qualify in. His best bet is to continue to run interference for Newt and serve as his AG or VP.
If Romney drops the ball, as seems possible, the GOP will field for Santorum for a time....and indeed take it to convention...there’s a buzz they have Jeb Bush waiting on the sidelines to step up if there’s a brokered convention.
Generally if a primary looks like it’s headed that direction...major wheeling and dealing goes down in order for that NOT to happen. I suspect there’s much going on behind the scenes to ward a broker convention off by some...and others who will push for it.
I still have to stick with Newt. I just can’t see Santorum beating Obama. Just can’t envision it.
Excellent news! I am really looking forward to the Santorum campaign solidifying these reports into campaign cash and organization so we can get rid of one more myth they try to throw at Rick.
Santorum Conservative, Consistent and WINNING!
You mean with Newt’s un-favorability ratings down in the cellar (43% Un-Favorable and 44% Favorable) and trailing women voters by 20-points, and according to USA-Gallup, Obama leads Newt by 12-points, that you still see Newt beating Obama?
Back in 2008, there were many who couldn’t envision Obama beating Hillary for the nomination, and then couldn’t envision Obama winning the election.

AAAARRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHH
Theres bigots everywhere...
Whats a good liberal Mormon to do ???
Yeah...
Who let the dogs out ???
Woof Woof...
You have a good memory. A very smart guy told me "there's no way Americans are going to elect a guy named Hussein as POTUS."
FReepers have pretty much convinced me that Baraq (via the Chicago political mob) had a tactical nuke they threatened the Clintons with. So that the Clintons couldn't use their vaunted privated detective force to dig up the sordid background of Obama.
Every election Baraq has won has been against a flawed opponent. If we nominate Romney, I think Obama will win again. He'll be like an undefeated heavyweight boxing champ who never fought any opponent with a winning record.
Do I need to post Santorum’s women vote number in PA?
Wait till they hear something about Rick besides the sum of what they know: Rick had a big day on Tuesday.
The barefoot and pregnant meme is coming, you wait. And Rick will own it.
Never fear. Mitt’s slime machine will appear. Rick is going to feel Newt’s pain in the next few days. I heard they already trotted Ann Coulterberger out today on CNN to start smearing Santorum.
I’m still leaning towards Newt who, BTW, gave an excellent speech at CPAC yesterday. My concern over Santorum is that the leftist media is going to be portray him as a religious extremist and a “bible thumper” which may scare, or alienate, many independents.
Other than that, I’ll give Santorum my full support should he be the nominee.
I am with Newt.
But every state Romney loses is good for America.
True, but people are getting tired of this. And unlike Newt, Santorum projects the general image of a decent guy.
Romney's only strength was the myth of inevitability the Party elites built up around him; the meme that GOP voters have no choice but to support him. Victor Davis Hanson described him perfectly as the castor oil that GOP voters would have to take. The problem, of course, is that those voters have been looking for a viable alternative to the man.
Now, much to the dismay of the Party elites and Romney, voters are starting to realize that it's Rick Santorum whom they've been looking for throughout the whole process. They've found their anti-Romney.
I have the sense that Santorum could start crying in a debate with Obama.
My view is that only three states count for November:
Ohio, Florida, and Pennsylvania.
The rest are either decided already or too small to count for much.
Win those 3 and you’re in.
God help the poor residents there, by Sept 15th they’ll be going stark raving mad at the avalanche of advertising.
I have the sense you have a weak intellect and an inability to articulate the positives of the candidate of your choice.
I have thought about that billion bucks that Obama is going to wash the nation in this year. It could easily backfire on him as every other commercial is either Obama or Allstate.
I live in Michigan and plan to vote for Gingrich. Romney is almost a favorite son...his father was Governor and is mostly well-remembered because he presided during some very fat years.
Still, I sense no movement for Mitt. Folks hereabout think of him as a Massachusetts liberal. His connection is with the DeVos and Van Andel familes, founders of Amway, and other very rich Michiganders.
What is “conservative” about him? Name one conservative action he took in Massachusetts. Romneycare??? Support for 12 year old girls to go to a judge for an abortion?
Truth is...he’s part of a dying species...a Rockefeller Republican. Goldwater stamped out this brand once...but like a bad penny, they keep turning up...in disguise.
Mitt is no conservative.
Great! If Santorum beats Romney in every state then Newt can be President.
And then have Newt lose to Obama?
I have the sense that you are freeping from your Mom's basement with sh7t in your pants. I could be wrong though.
I think we will have a better time selling Rick’s personal narrative than you guy’s. I’m just saying.
Look up facetious.
lol
OK- understood.
this whole primary reminds me of Christine ODonnell..
Wait, isnt PPP the never reliable, highly liberal biased polling outfit that we dont take seriously?
How so?
I see you are an intellectual.
Although PPP is highly liberal, it seems to be decent with these primaries.
Obviously this fellow didn’t see how Santorum beat the living crap out of Romney at the Final FL debate about Romney’s healthcare law in MA. Just cornered him and wouldn’t stop punching.
I think he can handle O (without a teleprompter)
we have a lot of “flavor of the week” candidates and she was a flavor of the week with no experience that caught fire and rode the wave. First it was Bachman, then Perry, Cain, Newt and now Santorum.
Just give it up. you’ve authored plenty of emotionally based posts, all against Santorum. Try posting about the positives of your candidate for a change.
Just average blue collar guy but I could be two sigmas to the left of that on the Bell Curve and handle your best pitch.
Well, now it looks like she is, with her endorsement of Romney. I read that she's mounting a campaign for Congress. I won't be making a contribution to her campaign this time around, however, for obvious reasons.
Yes, easily. Obama is a socialist idiot who needs a teleprompter to pee. Newt would shut his sorry behind down in the snap of a finger. I’m positive that Santorum cannot do that.
True. It’s down to beating Mitt and beating Obama. The nom has got to do both of those things.
Will either Romney or Santorum win Michigan in the general? NO! So who gives a (democ)rats ass.
