Sounds like there might be more here than meets the eye.
This is the news that we awoke to this morning. Filling in more details from what I’ve heard on various radio news this morning.
New Albany head football coach Ron Price and his wife, Amanda, were shot while in their back yard around 10 pm last night. This is in a close, nice neighborhood inside the city of New Albany. Mrs. Price took their dog out and surprised somebody in their back yard. She was shot when she screamed. Coach Price responded to his wife’s screams and was also shot.
Amanda Price died of her wounds. Coach Price was wounded in the shoulder. He was treated and released from the Tupelo hospital. The murder leaves a kindergarten aged daughter without a mother.
I guess we are going to have to start packing heat just to walk our dogs in our own back yards. This is really a sad, sad story.
It really does sound like there is more to this. Police are only beginning to gather info. Hopefully, there will be more and better information coming soon.
We are in a more rural area and would not be surprised to stumble on someone poking around in our back yard. To have this happen in a nice neighborhood inside a small MS town is “disconcerting” to say the least.
So the husband already was treated and released for a gunshot wound which occurred after his wife already was shot and killed? Let’s see if the story checks out.
Yes. Get used to it. And be aware of your surroundings at all times.
It is not paranoia if indeed someone IS out to get you, and apparently they are!
Let’s be honest, in order to have a reasopnable means of self defense, one must choose to be armed at all times possible.
LTC Grossman (Killology, On killing) I think, said “ If you chose to leave your home unarmed when you otherwise have the right and means, you become a sheep”.
Carry your firearm. It is easier than carrying cop, faster than calling for one, and more likely to result in your safety than relying on one, and much cheaper to boot.
Now, don’t get all upset, LEOs indeed have thier place in the personal security continuum, and I wholeheartedly support law enforcement etc, I just don’t need them until afterwards.
Thanks for linking to the WTVA article. Google’s spider must be crawling slow today. They had not picked up this article yet.
One difference I see from your article and what I heard in an interview this morning with the New Albany asst police chief. The chief said that the coach was treated and released. The WTVA article says that he was admitted for surgery.
Whoever did this would be much safer if they turn themselves in to police. Country justice will be a lot swifter and stronger if the “good ol boys” catch them.
That is in my neck of the woods. Went to the Tupelo newspaper site and it only had a very short paragraph about it. It said it was an incident, whatever that means. Will keep checking.
Another shooting involving government employees?
With a never ending conga-line of perverted and twisted government employees, who do you believe?
Both Ron and Amanda were from Corinth. Both went to school at Alcorn Central. I’m betting on a robbery as Amanda and Ron were honest God fearing loving people. Amanda’s father is a Preacher here and a client. You can’t get any better than any of them. Watched both of them grow up and do well. My prayers to Ron and his daughter because the next years will be hard. Any Freepers that know me remember I was left with a 3 year old daughter to rear alone after I lost my wife tragically during the holiday season ten years ago.
Man, where have I heard this before?? lol...
Also keep open the possibility that some thug at school may have gotten upset over coach cutting him from the team.
The husband being treated and released was what I heard reported on the radio this morning. The WTVA article posted down thread says that he was admitted to the Tupelo MS hospital for surgery. I would expect that the WTVA report is likely more accurate. I can’t imagine a hospital in today’s world that would let a gunshot wound get away without at least the price of an overnight stay.
I know where you are going with your mention of the timing and waiting for the story to check out. I’m sure that line of thinking will be (and should be) investigated. For now, we wait for more news and pray for those who have lost a mother, wife, daughter, friend and teacher.
If you’re not packing when you walk the dog, you might need to rethink that...........
One never knows when a bad guy might show up. Doesn’t cost anything to pack—and every day you don’t need have to use it is a good day..........
“Also keep open the possibility that some thug at school may have gotten upset over coach cutting him from the team.”
This suggestion was actually mentioned on the radio interview that I heard with the New Albany asst police chief. They are looking into that possibility.
I guess I watch too much Forensic Files but I had a bad feeling when I heard this on the radio. I hope they catch the shooter. No matter who it is.
Hey MamaB. I’m about an hour south in Columbus and Doug is up in Corinth. Keep us up on anything you might hear. I’ve been trading messages with my darling urging her to make sure she is armed and paying attention when she is walking the dogs now.
