Thanks. I really don’t know why I like that movie so much. Some other odd ones are the 3 Tremors movies. Yeah, I know. Very, very odd.

Zero Mostel as Max Bialystock in Mel Brooks' The Producers

That was much better than the remake.

The film was also known for many of Gump’s phrases, such as “My momma always said, “Life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get.”

Momma was wrong most chocolate you can look in the lid.

RE: NO CONTEST-—PATTON

Agree. And additional points for snubbing the Oscars.

George C. Scott was a flaming liberal.

I love that movie too. A classic. He was great in Mr. Deeds too. And while I enjoy Adam Sandler, it is not a favorite remake for me because of how much I like Cooper.

BTW:

Each to his own, I guess.

I found the character very boring....fell asleep before the end of the movie.

Gump-Schlump. Ridiculous.

Two just off the top of my head much better, Randall McMurphy from One flew over... and Tommy DeVito (Joe Pesci) from Goodfellas.

Stupid movie to be sure, but some liberals really hated it.

Jenny is the classic 1960s flower child and what happens to her?

Check out some of the reviews discussions online. Like this one:

I believe Forrest Gump is an extremely reactionary movie that promotes the value of stupidity for the masses. I think it's one of the most dangerous popular films I've ever seen. I hate it.

More here.

One comment makes the totally unconventional argument that the book was liberal and Hollywood made the movie conservative.

Problem is, Gump couldn't have been a Dem.

He honored his obligation to his friend (Bubba) by giving his mom a check, a share of the profits from the shrimping operation -- from his own money.

He mooned Lyndon Johnson.

He hired his disabled veteran friend (and former commander).

He remained loyal to the girl he loved. He not only made money, he gave some of it to a church.

He was actively raising his son.

Awfully conservative, that.

Well, maybe not mooning LBJ...
