4-3, Werth HR
Lots of offense, like AL games in some ways...no pitchers’ duel

Color me surprised. No sleepy bats for the Giants this evening.

I don't know how FReepers are going to take this, but the team that comes closest to being "my team" out of the four survivors is the San Francisco Giants. It has absolutely nothing to do with San Francisco (in fact, it is in spite of that) and everything to being "the Giants."

No team so embodies Ancient Baseball as the New York Giants. The team of Christy Mathewson, Joe McGinnity, John McGraw, and Mel Ott was once a major (perhaps the major) powerhouse in the Majors. What storied baseball field conjures up images of mustachioed "batsmen," "Casey at the Bat," and Cracker Jack than the Polo Grounds?

I haven't watched a World Series in a long, long time. If I do I'll root for the National League team (as always).

Even if the Phillies win, considering that prior to 1980 they appeared in only two World Series (1915 and 1950) and lost them both, I don't really mind their success of recent decades.

Well, at least I got the part right about the teams winning by one run although a higher scoring game than expected when you consider both teams started their aces.

yes, I was figuring 3-2 or 4-3 or something but for a moment it looked like it’d be something like 8-6, 7-6 etc.!

Hey Yankees, “Who’s your daddy?”

Except for one inning, the Rangers have completely owned this series.

I work most nights and heard the game on the radio (not that recep was too good) on WCBS out of NYC. It was fun to hear
John Sterling, the Yanks’ it-is-high, it-is-far, it-is-gone
guy admit during that 9th that the game was lost. WHAT, no
way the Yanks could come back? C’mon, only 8 runs :)

Exactly, Yanks did their damage in one inning only. What’s their run total in these 3 games...6, 1, then 0? 7 divided by 3. Just over 2 runs a game? Wow.

The ESPN special about the 04 Red Sox, “Four Days in October”
referred to Pedro Martinez’ remark about “if they beat us
I’ll just have to call the Yankees my Daddy” and showed
the crowds at Y-Stadium chanting WHO’S YOUR DADDY? But the Sox pulled off the greatest baseball comeback ever...

If the World Series turns out to be San Fran vs. Texas, I’m going to feel like a rat rooting for the team from the capital of Hell. But I can’t root for an American League team, and I still maintain the New York Giants epitomized Old Time Baseball.

How is that play not reviewed? What a complete joke.

And then they blow another call immediately after that one.
