:::::sneaking out to remove the LT sticker from the back of the Tahoe:::::
(Lake Tahoe)
A friend of mine has a 10 year old Ford that has the oval sticker on it with white letters. It’s an abbreviation of his gated community. Without that sticker the car can be towed. Everyone approved to park in the community has one.
Great essay!
The lady across the street (no she doesn't have a Saab, she has a Lexus) called the animal people, I was taking a shower when they knocked on the door, I could see out the window who it was and surmised what went down, so I answered the door naked & wet saying "What!"
People with uniforms and guns are surprisingly taken aback when confronted with angry wet people.
They laid their trip down and I laid my trip down.
"He likes being in the car, I'd like to see you get him out of His car when he doesn't want to come out!"
They hung around for awhile to satisfy themselves the dog was happy and content then left.
They would probably sell the heirloom tomatoes I grow in my garden for $11.99 per pound...hey, it’s “specialty stuff, dude...”
Right there was your first mistake - letting the dog choose the super market.
(Remarks, taken out of context can be humorous.)
Thanks for the Saturday afternoon entertainment. You’ve pretty much nailed “Whole Paycheck”. There’s one in Boulder, CO and the only difference between yours and this one is the very large percentage of University of Colorado students and professors that make up their clientele.
I can only assume the students must have very wealthy parents if they can afford to shop at Whole Paycheck. (When I went to undergraduate school in Blacksburg, VA, we survived on Kroger Mac ‘N Cheese at 19 cents a box and bone-in chuck at 69 cents a pound, and other assorted staples we cooked from scratch into our own delicious meals.)
The only thing I do like about Whole Foods is the CEO - apparently treats the employees as he treats himself and came out against Obamacare (which is pretty ballsy when you depend on the liberal crowd for most of your business).
I will say that the meats and produce looked great but everything in there is crazy money unless you and your family eat like birds.
You are spot on about not seeing a brand name in Whole Foods that you would see in other grocery stores.....
I don’t often shop at Whole Foods, but when I do, I make sure I have my iPod on and am listening to Rush Limbaugh. It sort of takes the edge off all the left-leaning reading material scattered around the store.
I nwould agree that Whole Food’s clientele is over represented in the “trust fund baby” department. Some of the weirdest looking whackjobs I’ve ever seen.
That was a good read. I pass a Whole Foods on my way to the Walmart. I’ve been curious to stop in.
Whole Foods has cashew butter?! Gotta get there, Trader Joes used to have it but they got rid of it. VERY tasty stuff. There’s a lot of tasty stuff in all these store, TJ’s is my favorite, followed by Sunflower, then finally Whole Food.
TRader Joe’s is one of the best food marts in America.
So is Whole Foods, though pricey and considerably more trendy than TJ’s. The owner of WF is a clear thinking CEO, unlike a lot of them. This piece was WAAAAAAAYYYY overlong, considering the rather predictable points that were to be made about that vanishing breed, ‘yuppies’. You’re more likely to find yuppie types at WF, but more likely where I live in suburban Bergen County NJ, very close to NYC, you’ll find people of all sorts who just need a break from their A&Ps and ShopRites. When you’ve got a few extra bucks, you will treat yourself to a little something at Whole Foods. THat’s what it’s there for, in addition to luscious and original prepared foods from Asia and the Middle East.Nobody ever said you had to spent $323.
Any copies of ‘BITCH’ magazine at the checkout, or is that only at the Hadley store?
And if the piercings are not enough to make you retch, the ones that stretch their earlobes (like some African tribesman from National Geographic) and permanently deform themselves will.
Your story has given me an idea. I should walk into Whole Foods, find the youngest worker I can find, and ask them where they keep the Soylent Green. I wonder how long I could keep a straight face while they look through all their soy merchandise trying to find it.
I love love love Whole Foods, especially since their Libertarian CEO was against Obamacare (write a brilliant op-Ed for WSJ last October). Tge left had all sorts of boycotts against them after that & our store in Pittsburgh picked up quite a few conservative shoppers as a result.
They take good care of their employees. I support them & always will, but truth be told, Trader Joes is my first love.
