LA Lakers coach Phil Jackson has become the focus of ire from the illegal immigrant activists and those who can't read. They're planning a protest against Jackson at tonight's Lakers-Suns playoff game in Los Angeles:
Immigration activists plan to picket the NBA Western Division title game at Staples Center Monday evening, because Lakers coach Phil Jackson said he has no problem with Arizona’s controversial new illegal immigration law.
...When Adande told Jackson that some feel the Arizona Legislature had usurped federal law, Jackson countered Arizona is “not usurping, it’s just copying it is what they said they did, and then they give it some teeth to be able to enforce it.”
Those comments have prompted the Mexican-American Political Association and Southern California Immigration Coalition to plan to picket Monday’s Lakers game. “We are not happy with the position that Phil Jackson took,” said the group’s leader, Nativo Lopez.

Me too — had season tickets at the “Fabulous Forum” from ‘70 - ‘74. Sat right next to Chick Hearn. Gave then up right after Wilt retired and before Jabbar arrived. Haven’t rooted for the Lakers in a long time, but I hope they beat Los Suns.
Usually I hate the Lakers but I so hope they sweep this series.

Haven’t seen the statue yet, but yeah, Chick was a legend’s legend. Best basketball announcer ever, and I’ve heard all the great ones. And it’s not even close.
Things were very relaxed at the Forum back in the early ‘70s. Kids used to walk down to right under the basket before the game and watch Wilt, West, Baylor, Goodrich, etc. warm up. ...and they’d rap with us.
I didn’t need a radio with Chick sitting so close.

Seem CA has had a near identical law to AZ for years...except...
AZ law states if an office during a legal stop, suspect that person is an illegal the officer MAY ask about immigration status (the officer is not required to ask)
Tha CA law is the same but states if an office during a legal stop, suspect that person is an illegal the officer SHALL ask about immigration status (the officer is required to ask)... CA just does not enforce it own laws
