If this government collapses, and people start taking their money out of their accounts, and find there is none. Do you really believe that will be deflationary? Yes, Great Depression #1 is a prime example.

Certainly a possibility. I know all I want from my guvmt is to leave me alone. But they can’t can they? I must pay attention to them b/c they are oh so important. I just read a Denninger piece over at the Market Ticker that indicates we could have financed all deficit spending from 1988 to 2009 by printing money rather than incurring debt and interest and that would have resulted in an inflation of about 2.5%. That is NOT per year that is over the ENTIRE period. You know our masters know this. What the h@ll has been going on in DC?

You are correct. I think we have an effective oligarchy presently just as you do. I was referring to a follow on government after the first Republic falls. IF it falls. It ain't over yet!

(for example, SS is in the red, years before it was supposed to). And there are so many big hits on the horizon (Europe, state budgets, CRE, etc), that any reform would be too little, too late.
And that is because of all the SSDI that everyone is collecting. and have been collecting for years.
