No, it’s just like somebody punches you in the face! I usually see a bright flash, like a flashbulb going off in my face or nearby. It’s not fun, and thankfully doesn’t happen very often. Cluster headaches aren’t like migraines. They usually center behind one eye (as a spike or dagger) or side of the face, cause sweating and super-pain for short periods of time. Not well understood. Oxygen is one recommended remedy.

Have had the “hag” experience too, waking up frozen, unable to move but indescribable feeling of unspeakable evil presence nearby, etc. Hm.

Yes, it can be very frightening, it was for me until I understood. I no longer fear, because I know that Jesus has given me power over demons, anyone who is a child of God has that power. I didn’t understand it at the time. I also understand that it can be something else. My daughter is learning disabled and has seizures. It’s obvious they are caused by her brain damage not demonic. I just know what I went through and how it stopped.

The hardest thing for me about a CPAP was learning to breathe backward. (My wife never noticed it though).

Normally, inhaling requires effort and exhaling occurs during relaxation. On a CPAP the opposite is true. If you relax, you inhale but it takes a little effort to exhale. I found that difficult to adjust to.

But sleeping with a CPAP is the most restful sleep I’ve ever had.

I have gotten so used to my husband’s machine that I can’t sleep without the noise. When he is gone, I have to use the air cleaner for the noise.

I take a marine battery with an inverter. The battery can last up to a week if you only use it for a CPAP. Not good for backpacking, but camping within a short distance of a car it works fine. Also, Pep Boys has a device for jumping cars that will run a machine like a CPAP for a night or two.

My son has Sudden Migraines. He hears a loud POP inside his head and he screams out in pain. When he was young he thought my wife and I were doing it. He would as why we did that to him, and we had no idea what he was talking about. Luckily, they only last a couple of seconds.

my friends whine about the noise, until I try sleeping without it.

LOL! My wife used earplugs to protect her from my snoring until I got my CPAP.

A full bladder causes nightmares. Causes anxiety.

Too-tight covers do as well. Restricts leg or arm movement.

Came across the above info as a child and thereby stopped having nightmares.

anyone with sleep apnea should get to the doctor. My husband had it bad and died at 51, two of my son’s are on the machines for apnea. Hubby would scare me at night I would wake up and would wait for him to start breathing again, sometimes he wouldn’t and I had to wake him up...it can be a serious disorder, forget to breath, heart can forget to function..

I had sleep paralysis for a few years, late teens into the twenties. Don’t know why it ended, but was grateful. It always hit right when I was trying to go to sleep; I’d hear noises, like someone talking or playing the radio loudly in another room, or sometimes just a loud buzzing. I’d get the impression of birds and bats flying around the room. I was also joined by other people in my bedroom with me - family members, people I knew. There was also a shadow version of myself who I could see up and about, that was the thing that seriously freaked me out.

The only way out was to force myself to become fully awake, and that took quite the force of will. Sometimes I would dream that I had woken up, only after a while to find that I was still asleep and have to force myself to wake up again for real. At least after I had succeeded and was able to sit up and open my eyes I found the episode was over for the night and could finally get some rest.

All of these strange apparitions disappear after only a few seconds.

Maybe they're really there but you can't perceive them unless you take Zantac...

I haven’t taken the meds for several years but I still see the apparitions once in a great while.
