In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
temerarious \tem-uh-RAIR-ee-us\ adjective
marked by temerity; rashly or presumptuously daring
Example sentence:
The brave explorer set off for the unplumbed depths of the dangerous cave with only a few supplies and one temerarious companion.
Did you know?
If you have guessed that "temerarious" may be related to the somewhat more common word "temerity," you are correct. "Temerarious" was borrowed into English in the early 16th century from Latin "temerarius," which in turn derives from Latin "temere," meaning "blindly" or" recklessly." "Temerity," which arrived in English over a century earlier, also derives from "temere"; another descendant is the rare word "intemerate" (meaning "pure" or "undefiled"). "Temere" itself is akin to Old High German "demar," Latin "tenebrae," and Sanskrit "tamas," all of which have associations with darkness.
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.
The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....

Here is my example with today's WFTD.
Here's a blogger who suggests George W Bush was a temerarious leader, and for that he should be respected and admired.
Why I Like George W. Bush
No pushing at the door please!
Happy Humpday Everybody!
Only
days left until BO's replacement is sworn in.
Guess What!
There's only
days until Christmas!
Vacation day today, so the teacher is posting today's thread in his Dallas Stars Pajama pants while watching Mike and Mike in the morning. .
Only
days until Christmas!
why so formal? ; )
Well it is a little chilly this morning; hence, the pajama pants.
I checked the parking lot and the CFO and I are the only senior staff at work today. We have a deal. She stays on her floor and I stay on mine and nobody gets hurt.
There were going to be a few people in today, but not me. And Friday there is virtually no one scheduled to be in. I have 4 briefs due on Friday, got them all done and out before i left yesterday.
xsteen arrived safely from Dallas last night, was an hour late leaving. she’s excited to be able to go to one of her brother’s varsity hockey games today.
Barack think that he’s temerarious
He’s correct if it means “nefarious”
Sending more troops, at last
Once Election Day passed
So sad, else it would be hilarious
We’re closed on Friday. I’ll be assembling items to take to charity.
i’ll be dipping a toe into that BLACK FRIDAY pool. i look it as sport, much like Tgiving football.
A lack of brain inactivity is preventing me from using temerarious in an memorable example.
Hannah Giles and James O’Keefe have been temerious in their pursuit of the ACORN thugs.
Wasn’t Temerarious the Roman General who couldn’t make up his mind?
Maybe it was Naughtius Maximus.
When Obama stands by Nancy’s side in San Francisco when he announces his re-election bid (Oh wait, he is always running for election ...) the vibrations will be tremorhillarious.
He has a wife, you know...
I did the temerarious thing this morning and went to the grocery store but was clever enough to get there early and avoid the crowds.
No way I’m going out to face the crowds. Besides, there aren’t any deals to be had so they can’t tempt me.

3 weeks ago I bought a pair of Piloti Spyder Driving shoes that retails for $75, online for $29.95.
Great deals! I prefer online shopping to avoid crowds as well. Amazon usually has almost anything we need for gifts and for bargain prices.
Awesome find. Made my day.
Did you see SPILL oreilly, the muppet? pretty funny!
xsteen is home and will want to shop, like i said, it’s more the sport of being out there than finding deals and buying stuff. I have already begun the online shopping. we will go at odarkthirty and be home probably by breakfast time.
what is far worse is xsboy’s hockey game today which is up in Laurel, MD. That is up the I 95N corridor, primary route out of town, on the busiest travel day of the year. IT’s going to take forever. He is leaving shortly because one of the hockey moms who lives in that area has invited the varsity boys over for a pasta dinner, since she lives close to the rink. I made several batches of cookies this AM to send with him. Xshub will come home from the ofc and take the girls and i up to the game later this aft.
There might be a few people going through Breezewood today.
well, day 3 of doggie diahrea.......am calling the vet’s ........the stench is horrific. had that early morning squad call so I just got back up and had cleanup duty. oh, happy day.
glad xsteen is home safe....and MO looks perfectly presentable......but dear God in heaven...three weeks of labor intensive sewing to make it? the lives of the rich and famous have arrived at 1600 Penn Ave. I guess I am not surprised that it took that much effort to make her presentable. ;)
Team Well Done was burnt by Team Medium but the Temerarious the overall winner of the contest
Thank God we won’t be among them. If we go to my bro’s for Tgiving we always leave crack o dawn Tgiving day and get there before noon. no way i would travel to my destination on Weds before Tgiving.
You made my day! Beaker rules!
yeah you need professional help with the doggie diarrhea, that is not fun!
Glad to hear she is home and enjoying family life! My daughter is on the road right now - should be in by about 10pm tonight!
Did you see “V” yesterday?
I”m not in a spending mood yet.... not hitting stores this weekend either. That is one perk of being a stay at home Mom - I can shop when others are at work.... and unlike XS, I don’t enjoy it as a sport, although that is a hilarious comment!
hey if nascar is considered a sport i don’t know why shopping can’t be!
vet’s office said I was doing everything right....to wait til Friday....good grief!
Great find - thanks!
Of course - wish we didn’t have to wait until March - the V’s slipping their own drug into our flu vaccine had to have some dems wetting (or worse) their pants!
Oh don’t get me started on car racing - Sheesh - my old fat rear end could be a race car driver..... I pass many many people in small spaces on Houston freeways.
That was brilliant.
The only difference is the V's want to fatten us up first before the slaughter...
I hope this show drives the liberals crazy - lol
It should.
I just hope they keep it up when they get back for more episodes in March.
Obama thinks his initiatives are temerarious, but we hope his reign is very “temporarious”...
"Tamas" in Sanskrit is used a lot by the Hindus. It is associated with darkness, but is commonly translated as ignorance. "Tamaso maa jyotir gamaya" is a line from the Brihadaranyaka Upanishad that means "lead us from the darkness of ignorance into understanding."
/pedantry
This guy wasn’t temerarious — just plain dumb:
