There are only two more adventures to go before we see David Tennant pass on his sonic screwdriver to Matt Smith. The first part of "The End Of Time" is scheduled to be a darker festive adventure for UK viewers as it takes on the traditional primetime slot on Christmas Day.

If the BBC isn’t careful, Doctor Who will soon be down to its last regeneration of the Doctor, unless they have some nutty ideas brewing that will make the Doctor last for more than 12 regenerations.

...Always like the brits, humor, music, BBC. Was watching “Last of the Mohicans” and some ads came on for Dr. Who. Haven’t viddied it on the telly yet, but was drawn in. Might give it a chance, but, not much for sci-fi...

The Time Lords offered The Master a new series of regenerations in “The Five Doctors” if I remember correctly.
To: KevinDavis
I liked the one with Rowan Atkinson as The Doctor.

Rowan Atkinson as The Doctor. Are you kidding?
Mr. Bean as the Doctor?

Found it. It was a skit for Comic Relief titled: The Curse of Fatal Death.

The Mater was already past his last regeneration at that point, he had resorted to body stealing. We also have the fact that the Master DID get a new set of regenerations for helping in the Time War.
What I want to see is the Valyard come back though.

Lack of generations can’t kill a Time Lord . . . that can only be accomplished by a lack of ratings.

They did it for the Master. Only, he stole a new set of regenerations from another Time Lord. The Doctor doesn't have that option...

This is one of the reasons why I said what I said. It’s possible that Dr. Who “jumped the shark” when the Doctor became the last Time Lord to exist. Then again, time travel creates an infinite number of possibilities.

Rowan Atkinson was quite good, actually, even for a parody sketch.
He could do a good job in the role, as long as he doesn't have Baldrick as his sidekick.
