Sounds absolutely yummy. I’m gonna try the zucchini with the cheese & gobs of pepper. Love pepper!

Great looking corn!

I picked my meager yeild of Baldwin pears last weekend. Half are in the vegie bin in the fridge and the others are waiting to ripen up on a shelf.

I don’t mind eating them—once in awhile! Some of the crowd here can eat them for every meal.

I just hate planting them! We—meaning me— seed everything by hand. Collard seeds are mustard seed’s bigger cousins, if that tells you anything. LOL

I’ve already done a couple hundred/ flats of 72, probably do that many more.

I’m glad I’m not on the production end of the business...other than the plants I grow for my OWN garden, and a few select others. :)

You know, they do have machines that can do that for you. Of course, they’re very, very EXPENSIVE machines, LOL!

Yeah, sowing is a pain, but it’s well worth it. We have the best plants in the county. Course, we probably don’t make much on them either. :)

Growing collards in the middle of summer is about like growing tomatoes in an unheated greenhouse in the dead of winter—your winter.

Please add me to the weekly gardening thread.

I was all set to can tomatoes last weekend - I could see zillions of giant red ones in their raised bed from my back steps. Canner is ready, jars are ready, funnel, lifter, EVERYTHING - I mean I was ready to rock. I went out to pick them, and every damned one had a hole the size of a golfball in it. Eight cats, and I’ve got something eating holes in my tomatoes.

Birds were a big problem for me last year. Sounds like birds might be your problem. I am sure they are drawn to the red color!

You might want to consider picking your tomatoes before they become attractive to the birds. Here is a link to a July Weekly Gardening thread - when to pick a tomato - Weekly Gardening Thread – 2009 Vol.8 – July 03
