The Impending Obama Meltdown--Victor Davis Hanson (Outstanding!)
NRO ^ | 2/5/08 | Victor Davis Hanson

The Impending Obama Meltdown [Victor Davis Hanson]

Some of us have been warning that it was not healthy for the U.S. media to have deified rather than questioned Obama, especially given that they tore apart Bush, ridiculed Palin, and caricatured Hillary. And now we can see the results of their two years of advocacy rather than scrutiny.

We are quite literally after two weeks teetering on an Obama implosion—and with no Dick Morris to bail him out—brought on by messianic delusions of grandeur, hubris, and a strange naivete that soaring rhetoric and a multiracial profile can add requisite cover to good old-fashioned Chicago politicking.

I can’t see this guy finishing out four years. I see him being sent out of the White House in disgrace. He is not up to the challenges laid out before him.

This guy, Obama, will finish out his four years and take what is left of The Constitution right down the toilet.
Bet on it, this experiment In Democracy is at it's last breath.

Dear FRiends,

In light of what is transpiring in our nation's capitol tonight, more than ever, we need to ensure that places like Free Republic and other like-minded places continue to speak the plain truth. Newspapers are dying and the current administation will either bail them out or allow them to fail. If they are bailed out, they will be even more beholding to the coming socialist agenda. If they are allowed to fail, the powers that be will force the remaining electronic media to fill the void. Local coverage only. No national syndicated news/talk. The "Fairness Doctrine", like it or not.

After that, the internet. Free Republic. And others.

We need to get this FReepathon over and right now. We need to show that we are serious and will continue forward and thrive, not just survive.

If you can spare a couple of bucks, that would be great...If not, God bless you and please stop by the FReepathon thread and give it a bump.

We're all in this together.

If he doesn't quit the messianic style and perpetual campaign mode, and begin humbly governing, then he will devolve into Carterism—angry that the once-fawning press betrayed him while we the people, due to our American malaise, are to blame.

Obama's friend Deval Patrick, Governor of MA, basically gave Carter's malaise speech a few weeks ago. He said the problems were the fault of the citizens who had lost faith (paraphrasing).

I think Obama will go in that direction, and I think he will be angry, and I think he is incapable of doing anything other than campaigning.

I predict a substance abuse problem for our president, and possible impeachment and removal on that basis. And then look out! Joe's got the helm!!

Nice editorial. Still, all that is needed to turn things around is an article or two by some leading media type praising the community organizer for a small victory here or there and then the rest will fall in line with similar praise.

“At home, Obama is becoming laughable and laying the groundwork for the greatest conservative populist reaction since the Reagan Revolution.

Abroad, some really creepy people are lining up to test Obama’s world view of “Bush did it/but I am the world”: The North Koreans are readying their missiles; the Iranians are calling us passive, bragging on nukes and satellites; Russia is declaring missile defense is over and the Euros in real need of iffy Russian gas; Pakistanis say no more drone attacks (and then our friends the Indians say “shut up” about Kashmir and the Euros order no more “buy American”).””

Sums up his 1st 2 weeks quite well.

BO will resign....[in the shadows, unknown to the sheeple, he’ll be forced to].

It will not be that easy. bHo along with the MSM will find some right winger or right wing cause to pillory and blame for the failure of the bloatulus.

We may even see a Murrah building event to blame on the “right wing” or at least have been incited by the right wing.

Of course the MSM has as many eggs in the falling basket as bHo and will go to all ends to blame all the ails on the right. Worse, I predict an army of bHo voters/backers on his side to the end.

So this will not end easy or without pain on both sides. Who will pay more in pain and money?

I agree.

I think it might be two years in the making. He will resign because of some scandal or the COLB issue will finally come to a head and he’ll be frog-marched out of the Oval Office by Uniformed Secret Service into the hands of the FBI.

Which Democrats will take the “long walk” up to the White House to tell Barry he is done? This clown gives the most un-Presidential speeches in our nation's history. Once a thug community organizer, always a thug community organizer. Remember, it was Bubba who first observed that Barry had the instincts of a street thug.

You must be young. Carter's defining moment in office was when he went on camera and declared that the US problems were not his crappy leadership, but a national malaise. It's known as the "malaise" speech. Here it is.

The "stimulus": shower[ing] Democratic constituencies with cash

Excellent article!

The Rat Party's (formerly the traditional Democratic Party) ratronage.

In Chicago political opponents are allowed to stand erect during campaigns but after the election they must assume the position. "We won," proclaim the Dems.

Obama has known nothing else save for the friendship and classrooms of very liberal / radical teachers.

IMO he's intelligent and that got him through college. Since then he's relied entirely upon skin color and schmooze. "What's happening?!!" he must be thinking.

And you have brought up how bad it is: When Hillary and Bill are beginning to look like the sane, responsible ones, the voices of reason! I never thought I would type those words. It has come down to a situation where we are dependent on Hillary — Hillary! — to navigate all those treacherous waters in the world because the fellow in charge is clearly not up to the task, and the question arises if he has the sense to listen to her. Scary, scary, scary.

Victor Davis Hanson is not usually prone to dreaming.

The Democrat “mainstream” newsrooms will provide all the cover Zero ever needs. They will continue, shamelessly, to prop him up and they will find an excuse for him (”the mess left by Bush and the Republicans”) each and every time he stumbles. They will do everything in their power to ensure his reelection. The Democrat “mainstream” newsrooms did not go to all the effort to get their clueless simpleton elected only to see him fail.

Anybody who thinks otherwise is a hapless, hopeless dreamer.
Sorry, Victor.

Since his earliest years he has been assuming the appearance of different identities. He consciously pursued this in high school and college, picking up and letting drop whatever attitudes and mannerisms he needed at the time to appear however he needed to be to get what he thought he wanted, using other people's perceptions and fears regarding race to get handed to him that which, had he had two white parents, he could never have gotten on the basis of experience or talent. He has had the adult version of the high school spate of dishwashing and fast food jobs only to find himself in a position that demands he actually be something instead of appearing to be something.

The memories of Bush will be very distant when the demoRats get the brunt of everyones anger over being misled by the MSM about OObama’s so called qualifications.

The MSM does have a huge stake in his success. But I see rapid defections when he starts to stumble. Even “Uhduh Gibbs” the press secretary is already a laugher.

Yep, read the Constitution. Article IV section 4, the Constitution guarantees a Republican form of Government. The word Democrat, Democracy and Democratic does not appear anywhere in the Constitution. The Founders knew that Democratic governments were mob rule where the majority could vote their way around laws.

...Anybody who thinks otherwise is a hapless, hopeless dreamer. Sorry, Victor.

First of all, it's the Freepers here making the predictions of The Big Zero not completing his term--not VDH.

Secondly, back when Carter was President, you had not talk radio or Internet to counter the MSM bias. But Carter's failures was so manifest that everyone could see it.

I have been really trying to give The Big Zero the benefit of the doubt, giving my private assessment of his performance thus far as a C-. But since he has actually taken the oath of office, I don't think that he has made one good decision--by any objective standard.

Two weeks may present too little data thus far to make a fair assessment of whether or not the Big Zero is a success or failure, but the trends are NOT good.

Not sure the media could pull this off. Even Hitler, with a controlled press, couldn’t convince the population a new offensive was going to win the war as the Russians and Americans closed in on Berlin.
