What do you all think?
The comments are fun to read, if nothing else.
Like all Mother Earth News articles, even the ones from years ago have lots of good information and food for thought.

A lot of common sense, here.
It is amazing how little money you spend when your wallet is empty :). You just can’t!

I do a lot of those things...always have.....the last few years I've been tossing the clothes in a dryer for a few minutes then they get hung on a rack or hanger outside...you'd be surprised how good your clothes smell afterward....
when I go shopping, I always check whats on sale, and buy ahead where possible...if you're going to be using gasoline, you might as well make it well worth the money.....

This is my kind of thread! This is great info for Operation Thrift (to screw Obomas economy)
We do everything we possibly can to avoid paying any and all taxes . We deliberately keep our income below the federal tax limit. No way are we going to be held responsible for supporting one democrat. Let them get their own jobs.
We've been working on self sufficiency for about 12 years now.
There are some taxes we have no choice but to pay, so we find a way to get the money back. For instance - we home school, yet have to pay school taxes anyway. So, because of our income, we can use government grants to send our kids to college for free. We get our money back that way.

Don't you know that Barack Hussein Obama will be our next President?
After he gets done making sure the unborn will be killed without restriction, dismantling the Military, giving Enemy Combatants more rights that U.S. Citizens, making all the Illegal Aliens U.S. Citizens, instituting the Fairness Doctrine, eliminating the secret ballot from Union Voting and negotiating with terrorist regimes, he will pay for your gas, your mortgage, your health insurance, your education and anything else your little Special Interest group desires.
Empty wallet? No problemo bro.
It will be paradise on earth.
