LOL! Thanks for the laughs.

Now that you've cried wolf you'd better hope this never happens for real!

Is the water for pain or for swelling, blisters, and so on? It's numb right now from toothache medication (my cure-all).

I'm no medic (and you should really consult with one ASAP) but I've always heard that running cool water over a burn (especially immediately after it occurs) helps reduce the tissue damage.

And I've noticed in my own case that cool (NOT COLD) water has been known to alleviate the pain. Run the water, it stops hurting all but a little bit. Stop running the water, it hurts like hell.

Thanks. Doc said there's no need to come in unless I get a fever, there's excessive swelling, blah blah blah.

I think it's going to be fine.

How did he say to treat it?

Dadgum man... My brother once dropped a boiling coffee kettle full of water on his bare foot once. It was awful for a while - shed the top of his foot. Hope you're okay. I'd go ahead and get a doc to take a look.

He said to apply toothpaste, of all things, to stop the burning. Then he said use a topical antibiotic cream twice a day and apply aloe vera gel and vitamin E throughout the day.

I think my pajamas and bath robe saved my life. The robe really took one for the team. I think it would have been a life changing accident if I had been in underwear and without a shirt.

Thanks for yall's help.

Sounds like good advice. I would also look into taking a bit of zinc orally, I believe supplemental zinc is likely to assist in healing. But do a bit of research yourself.

You can also take aloe vera JUICE orally as well.

I'd hit the ER and beg for some vicodin.

I believe in modern pharmacology.

Hope you're better soon. You got a shudder out of me with the fried dolphin thing.

Hey guys,
I thought you might be interested in this, especially you Luke. We called the ER last night and they mentioned putting toothpaste on the burn to ease the pain. Well, oddly enough, it did ease the pain. So I slathered it on, put on a cotton shirt and shorts and went to bed.

When I woke up this morning my skin was peeling like crazy. I showered it off and was amazed by the results. The peeling skin wasn't skin at all. It was just dried toothpaste. The burn is completely gone. I'm not talking less red, less painful, less swollen - I'm talking GONE!

We're SHOCKED by the dramatic results. I didn't know it was possible to fully recover from such a burn in a matter of hours no matter what you put on it, much less toothpaste. You literally cannot tell that I was burned last night.

So, if you're ever burned slather toothpaste on it.

Good word, and I'm really glad to hear of the speedy recovery!

You may still find that some skin peels off, that might not happen immediately but later, but in any event at least the concerns of any lasting damage are hugely if not entirely gone.

So, glad to hear you're all right! But I'd advise against attempting it again. :-)
