With a flashy, Vegas-style front, a casino for seniors, and a floor show;D That’d destroy the symbolism of it. The gaudier the better.

The Union is “perpetual and indivisible,” so the only way out of it for states wanting that option will be violence.

No there are other options. The satellite countries just began to ignore the centralized authority. We are seeing some of this.

And it is a very strong possibility of the central authority will cause it’s own demise.

The war will be over foood housing sex drugs and alcohol.

Yeah, that's the kind of stuff that make countries great.

It's all about the priorities, and you've got yours.

It’s hard to imagine any past civil conflict ever occurring if they had our current societal conditions. I’m not sure civil war is even possible where poor people are the most likely to be obese and are the least used to sustained physical effort of any poor population to ever exist.

Their cops and state national guards and most likely the federal government. The feds haven’t exactly been kind to red states. And this military isn’t exactly conservative friendly so I wouldn’t expect them to defend red states interests.
We’ve had over twenty years of liberals reforming the military to their social programs and this has driven out “right wingish elements
Few stood up to prevent this and forget renaming long named instillations.
This ain’t your pappy’s military anymore.

And all of them together is less then 10% of known gun owners. Key word there being known.

This ain’t your pappy’s military anymore.

Yep. It ain't. So I have been telling people since the 90s.

Blue states and cities will be perfectly happy to get their oil from traditional America’s enemies like Venezuela, Iran gand even Saudi Arabia and other gulf countries.
Deep blue states will happily get all the food from overseas as well. Anything destroy the “Great Satan” or the “capitalist pigs”
What countries will come to red states aid?
Britain?
France?
Germany?
Japan?
Etc.
Etc

It doesn’t take a trained warrior to don a suicide vest or fire an AK—all it takes is dedication and the knowledge that death is going to happen anyway in a police state. If you knew you were destined for the camps and death by hard labor—why not take out as many of the bad guys as you can?

I wish I could believe that but once freedom is lost, it’s harder to reestablish it than to keep it.
We forget how truly unique our country is in the totality of history.
Nobody in all of history has had the freedom, the wealth and education as we’ve had for nearly 250 years yet we’re slowly allowing it to be taken away from us for a “promise” of a little bit of “security, a little bit of free bread and to be “nice” to each other!
I fear for the next generation.

“This is a big country. 90% of the people will just want to get through the day.”
Most people didn’t fight for freedom during the Revolution.
Most people didn’t own slaves not cared to fight for their freedom.
Most people didn’t want to get involved in that “European War”
Most people couldn’t have placed Pearl Harbor on a map
Or Korea...
Or Vietnam...
But things can change swiftly and usually without people’s knowledge or desire.
People are already at each other’s throats online.
Look at “the summer of love” in 2020
It could be an economic collapse, foreign attack, energy shortage or just another stolen election.
I’m not a prophet nor “God’s special messenger” but people are more divided by race, religion, politics and income than in the sixties.
Back then, society’s foundation institutions were firmly in place and could weather the conflicts back then.
What will bind us together today?
Not the church, not the law nor common decency or even common sense.
I hope I’m wrong but I’m pessimistic about the future.

I know a lot of gun owners, alot of them are in my family and I btoo am a fan of the 2nd amendment.
But most of them are fat, out of shape or have families that they will not abandon to fight across the country.
I put myself in the out of shape category.
We won’t have time to whip the rest into shape.
If course, the same can be said about our opposition as well.
I can count on one hand the men in my family who are of military age and could hump military gear and rifle.
God help us if the other side has help from China or Russia

Who is going to be humping gear?

This will be urban warfare which always favors the side that is defending. Which will be us when they come out of their cities.

To keep one man on the front line takes seven at least keeping things running. And it takes ten front line men to equal the damage one lone rebel can do.

And once you come out of the cities to try to take stuff from the suburbs even the people who might have been on your side politically will turn on you. Because you are taking their stuff as well.

And as for bringing in Chinese troops... hopefully they are not that stupid. Because while people may be reluctant to fire on their neighbors and fellow country men that reluctance vanishes when you bring in foreign troops. And it also would result in many people on their side deciding that this was not what they signed up for.

This are some of the reasons why you do not want to start a civil war. Even a little one.

They get out of hand very fast.

If we did, the preparations for economic privation should have begun years ago. I hope it’s not too late to start, but becoming self-sufficient in the essentials of life is absolutely more important than stock-piling guns, and stock-piling guns is important but not enough.

That is a stupid response.

War comes down to survival and power and those are the items for both.

Pillage and plunder are real things. My family will eat at your expense. Your stuff is now mine...if I am nice I will enslave you...if not you are dead.

Fancy ideas happen at UN levels but for the citizens embroiled in battles and being overrun in their towns it is much more elemental.

My family experienced it in Wwii.

Once the deep-state elite allowed the Chinese to launch an EMP attack, and/or take out our power grid, it would be a battle between the haves and have-nots. The have-nots being the unprepared fools that refused to see this coming.

That is a stupid response.

Crazy people think that it's others that are crazy and that they're the ones with the sane minds. You use the word stupid while not recognizing that, it's you with the stupidity.

War comes down to survival and power and those are the items for both.

Civil wars, just like any other war, is not forever. And the survivors of civil wars are not all criminals and violent. Pillage and plundering will occur, during and after the war, but, if any kind of civilized people do survive, they will be the ones restoring civility and peace and law-and-order. The criminals will not be among the regular population.

Your kind of mindset belongs in Neanderthal times, when it was likely, kill or be killed, steal and survive, or hide and hope not to be noticed.

Z Have you notices that, after the American civil war, we got a peaceful and prosperous nation, with all sides eventually coming together to restore law-and-order? And, you didn't have to be there in the 1860s to notice how everything turned out.

Look in the mirror whenever you want to point at someone and call him or her stupid. Never thought there could be someone on FR as dense as you appear to be..

..................

first, I did not say you were crazy. I said your response was stupid. A stupid response is not thought out, not informed, and it is obvious that you are not either thoughtful or informed.

You are limitid in your thinking if you are only looking at the American Civil war or even our revelution as examples of war and aftermath.

Wars throughout history have been brutal and painful and people often do not come together afterwards. The US has traditionally required people to put their ethnicities aside. However that is not how the world works. And if you think I am talking about Neanderthal behaviors, you have not read any history of wars. Not Neanderthal, recent. That is what I mean by stupid, uninformed and you don’t know it. I recommend that you read war history then call me.

I have been here coming up on 26 years and I am certainly one of the lesser lights. However I am nowhere near crazy or stupid
