*** Putin is orchestrating the Civil War in America. Starting with free republic. ***
Putin didn’t pit FReepers against each other. That goes back to US’ foreign policy. Uniparty likes to loot other countries via sanctions, regime change, deep state orchestrated revolutions.
Twenty years ago FReepers were fighting with each other over religion. It got so ugly, caucus threads were initiated. Mormons were run off. Catholics weren’t real Christians.
We fought over Qanon, vaccines, lockdowns, borders. Keeping us peasants at each other’s throats, is an effective means to keep us from going after those who increase our misery daily.
My dad and yours had similar paths at that time. He became part of the occupation forces at the end of the war and was greatful. He knew The war would have gone on long after if the A-Bomb wasn’t used effectively
RIP Pops.
The Western elite want you to think everyone is your enemy. Except them
No matter what else he’s right About that.
There is this perception among many FReepers that Putin is Trump’s buddy, therefore he cannot be bad. They do not understand Trump. Nor do they understand Putin.
He didn’t “threaten nukes.”
Quit talking out of your ass - as if people reading your blatherful trash are dumb.
They’re not.
“The purpose of what Putin is doing in Ukraine is to throw the West off its pedestal. This isn’t about NATO or Ukraine, this is the big play to replace the current world order.”
If this is his “big play,” he’s sure going about it in a clumsy, sloppy, and ill-conceived way.
That is really quite funny.. but sad that some Texans are now woke.
“total BS, Russia can be anything it wants to be INSIDE its own borders! Leave Ukraine and then govern your country how you wish, end of story.”
I agree.
If the Ukrainians had not fought so fiercely to maintain their independence, Putin might have gone after the Baltic countries by now or even Poland. This is someone who considers the collapse of the Soviet Union the greatest calamity of the 20th century.
C-SPAN had a talk on this morning by Michael Kimmage, a professor at the Catholic University of America (originally recorded 8/31/22), entitled "Ukraine, Russia and the US." It may be available on the C-SPAN website. He had a lot of good observations about how the Ukraine situation fits into the broader question of how the West dealt with the countries which freed themselves from Soviet domination after the fall of the Berlin Wall. The Baltic states, Poland and the Czech Republic were accepted into the EU and NATO because they seemed readier and more "European" while Ukraine had greater problems with corruption and was not seen as "European" as the countries which were accepted.
“Exactly. What this speech wlso did was expose the Causus Belli discussed by the Putin puffers here and elsewhere to be tge bullshit some of us have caled out as bullshit from the get-go.
45 minutes and not one word about neonazis in the Donbas, not one word about Ukraine joining NATO. It’s all about his butt-hurt over the end of the Soviet Union, the loss of status Russia experienced with the independence of its former vassals, and them choosing NATO and Europe over the bupkiss Russia was offering as an alternative.”
Yup.
“Remember, Hitler claimed to be defending European civilization against the Bolshevik menace, and promised the Germans ‘freedom and bread’.”
Und Lebensraum.
They will not become a hermit kingdom, though. What they will do is form coalitions with the majority of the world that does not want to be lectured and invaded by the west and longer. Those days are coming to an end -- and fast.
The world has entered a period of a fundamental, revolutionary transformation. New centres of power are emerging. They represent the majority – the majority! – of the international community. They are ready not only to declare their interests but also to protect them. They see in multipolarity an opportunity to strengthen their sovereignty, which means gaining genuine freedom, historical prospects, and the right to their own independent, creative and distinctive forms of development, to a harmonious process.
As I have already said, we have many like-minded people in Europe and the United States, and we feel and see their support. An essentially emancipatory, anti-colonial movement against unipolar hegemony is taking shape in the most diverse countries and societies. Its power will only grow with time. It is this force that will determine our future geopolitical reality." -- Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“’The Ukraine’...was NEVER a sovereign nation before 1991 and the breakup of the USSR...”
And, yet, at the formation of the UN Moscow demanded that Ukraine AND Belarus be seated as members of the UN (i.e., as member states), with the same full voting privileges and rights as the other members (all of whom were independent, sovereign nations).
So, Moscow, one the one hand, said that Belarus and Ukraine were, for all practical purposes, sovereign and independent nations at the UN; but, on the other hand, they were not sovereign and independent.
“..so for people more familiar with the Russian mindset, do you think he means the amalgam of western elitist groups, or is this longhand for “the USA,” or what?”
I think he probably means “The West” is anyone who doesn’t think the same way he does, as he appears to be including, at least by implication, countries that agree with The West and follow — to one extent or another — The West’s lead.

Then move to Russia; it is obviously more to your liking. You are miserable here.
Support for Putin over Biden.? As I think about that I can only say this
If one does support Biden, what the hell is it your supporting.?? That schmuck can even find the door, let alone make decisions effecting our nation and the world. If you support Biden, what your supporting is the politics of the likes of Soros, Hillary, Gates, Obama, and all those lackeys and "One Worlders" in the deep state..
So, considering the situation we find ourselves in at this point in time, Yeah, I'll take Putin over Soros any day....
Quite a few countries have tried to be anything they wanted. It didn’t stop the West meddling, and invading. What makes you think Russia would be left alone.
