About a year ago we noticed two $99 charges on our Chase debit card from a gas station on the other side of Phoenix. We put in a fraud claim and got the money credited back but it was a hassle and the bank treated us like criminals while it was being investigated.

I owned an MG Midget back in the Seventies, and it had a seven gallon tank. I could get about 200 miles out of it, and it was a bitch.

I was stationed at Cecil Field in Florida, and driving up to New England...with all my earthly belongings jammed into a ragtop, running on fumes going through the Cross Bronx Expressway in NYC...

I saw stripped burnt out cars, and if I had to get out and walk, I knew my car and all my belongings would be toast.

If not me as well.

it was a dollar limit, not gallon limit, sounds more like the buttons you can push on the pump

i’d think a rationing thing would limit quantity not price

i’m sure there’s no more $5 or $10 limits on there anymore, $125 wouldn’t be that far of a stretch

What sort of clickbait crap is this?

The image CLEARLY says "Fueling Limit = $125.00"

Such limits are nothing new, some based upon the card used for payment.

I see your point but...
If gas gets to $8, a $125 limit would stop the pump at 15.625 gallons. That’s too little for many people.

There’s mostly a couple ways gas is going that high.

Both rely entirely upon Xiden’s handlers.

And the result is suicidal for the dems, so it ain’t gonna happen.

“ The next gas rationing will be the a first application to use the WEF’s new world order wherein your every move and action involving your purchasing power will be subject to their control.”

Nobody likes the WEF / Davos / Masters of the Universe less than me, but calm yourself. Are you paranoia pimping an ignoramus blog for clicks?

When you go up to a gas pump and put your card in, the business has to ensure you are good for what you are going to pump, but neither they nor probably you know how much that is going to be. So they (gas pump support software) run a trial transaction for say $50 or $75, something is larger than what people usually spend. That guarantees the credit card company will honor the purchase. When you finish pumping they void or reversethat first charge and run the actual amount. Now that gas prices have gone way up, sometimes the preauthorized amount is not high enough. The pump cuts off when you reach the preauthorized amount.

Go talk to the clerk inside, usually they can resolve the issue.

Helpful hint: Keep and check your credit card receipts at the end of the month. data communications fail, and sometimes if the refund transaction doesn’t happen, you get billed for maximum amounts. I got two charges for the preauth amount when I tried to buy some gas one day.

Its remarkable that such a complicated system ( hack if you ask me) works so often that most people are unaware of it. I got those incorrect gas charges after 40 years of using credit cards to buy gas, called my credit card company and they explained the preauthorization.

So, welcome to Bidenflation. If the gas pump (software maintainers) pick a number which is too high, say $200, sometimes people would be denied when they want two gallons of gas, and a few people would call the gas station irate for causing them an overdraft or credit card freeze when occasionally the preauth accidentally is not reversed, but if they pick a number which is too low, next month of America held hostage, lots of people can’t fill up. And the masters of the universe down at your local gas station want to sell gas.

our local Fred Meyer will give one up to One dollar if you buy enough thru the month.....

total you can get at that price is 35 gallons.....so, we have several gas cans so when we use our "reward" its for the full 35 gallons....

so they better not limit us ...

I always pay with cash. My local gas station give a 3 cent discount per gallon if you pay cash vs credit.

Meh. 100 gallon fillup means you don't even save enough money to buy a crappy coffee at Starbucks. Unless you're already used to paying cash everywhere, those savings just aren't much of an incentive to switch.
