“Tyrants mandated laminated safety glass too.”

The fiends! Does their commitment to doing such evil things have no end? Next the b@stards will expect people to not drive drunk or to not swerve around on the roads, I bet!!
>>>>And what has the result been?
>>>>Better performance and fewer deaths.
Yes, safer vehicles, and less careful drivers. If someone had been texting and driving in the 60’s , they would never survive their mistakes. Instead, foolish texting drivers, of any age, where THEY CAN’T PUT DOWN THE DAMNED PHONE, will wreck or cause wrecks, with little consequence other than higher insurance rates. When driving was known to be dangerous, people paid attention. Now ? Not so much.
With the advent of NASCAR dashcams and driving video games, even Non-texters drive like idiots. No fear of dying.
I’m glad that I experienced my childhood in the days when, in the words of Michael Savage, “the chrome was thick.” We had diving boards, teeter-totters, metal slides, swings and jungle gyms—and I not only survived but knew of no one who was killed or hurt by these things.
“When driving was known to be dangerous, people paid attention. “
You are losing. your memory!
I guess you are against no-texting while driving laws?
Lots of long rides in the bed of my uncles pickup truck.

Statute of limitations being long past,
Throwing rocks out of the back of a pickup truck adds the velocity of the truck (or a component of it).
Hitting a roadside sign made an impressive impact.
One day two rocks from two throwers collided and ricocheted and came back at the throwers, fast. Boy, that squelched that, (for a while).
I remember my dad yelling out to us playing football in the back yard. We even had girls playing football. My dad would yell out, “Who wants to go swimming? Go home and put on your swim suits and be back in a half hour!” Six boys and two girls would load up in the back of his pickup. Two others would get in the seat—without seat belts—and off we would go to the lake. That’s a total of eleven people going swimming in a pickup. Now it would take three carloads (max 5 people per car) if you could get a parent to drive each car, to achieve the same objective.
To be honest, i appreciate many of the safety features in today’s vehicles, because idiots drive here in Florida, college town. But i remember driving my 61 Triumph knowing full well that if i hit anything, or they hit me, i was going to look like a Hershe kiss wrapped in red foil.
If you say so, bless your heart.
“If you say so, bless your heart.”
You disagree?
Motorcycle helmet laws: I think someone is a damn fool for riding without a helmet, but it should be their choice, not mine.

They should have insurance or some coverage so we taxpayers do not foot their medical care bill.
“To be honest, i appreciate many of the safety features in todays vehicles, “
Videos of stability control systems should make anyone a believer.
My car has several drive modes. Rain, Normal, Track, Drag and then a switch to turn off remaining nannies.
“I guess you are against no-texting while driving laws?”
absolutely not. Texting is worse than DUI in my mind.
The problem with the Universe is the Invincibility of Youth. Usually people grow out of it by surviving disasters; now more people are cavalier because they have no idea of risk and consequence.
>>A few more films that we saw last century in high school driving class, put out by the US Navy. Still remember the images of the young kid with his arm out the window, in the back seat driver’s side, side swiped. I won’t even let my dog put his head out the window.
The article asked the reader to ponder what is reasonable in terms of imposing safety regulations, especially focused on safety regulations concerning children in automobiles.

Problem is when mandated safety features raises the price of the auto such that people avoid them for more dangerous travel, or drive older junkers that do not even have working safety features they were originally equipped with.
Thus the holy grail of government provided health care. Once FedGov is the only provider, dangerous customer behavior increases costs unnecessarily. Behavior limitations and mandates become required cost-minimizing measures. Diet, as well comes under federal supervision.
For example: the past year or so.
“Youre on the wrong site. Its the parents child. Not the governments.
you are making the absurd argument that cuomo is.
if it saves one life!
you are making the absurd argument that cuomo is.
Agreed; I would add that if they choose to ride without a helmet, please dont crash in front of me and leave a grease spot for me to have to dodge on my bike.
