America, if you want to know what a nanny state turning itself into a police state looks like, watch Victoria in Australia.
On a day when 672 new Corona-virus cases and 7 deaths were reported in the state of Victoria, population 6.39 million, a state of disaster was declared.
This suspends the known rules to enforce new restrictions like this:
There is an 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. curfew.
Only one person per day can leave a household to buy food. All single parents must leave all their children unattended to buy food.
One hour per day of exercise for two people at a time per household.
Many many more businesses cannot operate.

A trashed economy cannot stand up to China.
Victorian premier Andrews is a big fan of China's BRI.
But not of his own state's economy.
The lessons of WW2 (When European colonial powers collapsed, imperialist Japan filled the vacuum.) are ignored.
China's South China Sea claim takes them halfway to Australia. Australia in debt to stop people catching cold will be low hanging fruit to China.

I think PA or maybe one of the northern Midwest states tried to pass a law like this, and the governor vetoed it.
