Black wives matter
The Aspen Beat ^ | July 3, 2020 | Glenn K. Beaton

...My mother was my father’s wife. (These days, that statement is not obvious.) She was the only person he was close to. She mattered to him. It was his love for her that kept him around. If not for that one key fact, my life would be completely different. If not for the fact that his wife mattered to my father, I would probably be imprisoned or dead today...

We can all agree that black lives matter...So a question presents.

What can we do to preserve and enhance those black lives?

The feel-good cause du jour is that we should stop the police from murdering them.

OK, I agree. But that seldom happens. If we stop all police murders of blacks, that would save at most a few black lives a year.

The studies I cited above suggest that a better way to preserve and enhance literally millions of black lives is for their fathers to be married to their mothers when they grow up, as my father was married to my mother. How about a culture among black men where not just their lives matter, but also their wives?

We once had a president who was uniquely qualified to speak to this issue. Although he was biracial, he identified as black which was the race of his absent father. But instead of leading his people out of the wilderness, he pandered to them. He wanted to be black more than he wanted to be a man.

Will another black leader be more courageous? For the sake of whites and especially blacks, and for all of America, let’s hope so. Let’s pray for a black leader — and in the meantime for white leaders — with the courage to say, “black lives – and wives – matter.”

In many, if not most, species of birds, the female will not choose a mate and have bird sex with him until he has shown her that he has built a suitable nest. In some cases, he has to have built two to give her a choice.

"Will another black leader be more courageous?" Hmm. Maybe Christian Cooper, that birdwatcher guy in the Central Park Karen incident could be that leader.

Is "Cooper" a last name applied historically to keepers of chickens, which are birds, after all?

In Canada mothers are given welfare benefits when needed, and the fathers are allowed to live in the homes.

Have you heard of gangs of teenage boys running in the streets in Canada?

Mothers are the ones who instill values into their children. Husbands are, or should be, the ones to enforce those values.

Johnson's Great Society destroyed many families by making husbands irrelevant.

Once upon a time, humans were smarter than birds.

The father of a woman had to approve of the man that his daughter was to court (date).

Then the father of that woman had to approve of the man she was to marry.

A good man would want his daughter and future grandchildren to happy and well cared for, so a good man would set the bar high for a future husband of his daughter.

There is a lot to be said for dad’s approval.

There is a lot to be said for ‘no sex before marriage. If you can’t afford to get married you can’t afford to have kids, maybe you shouldn’t be having sex.

It’s almost to the point that we may have to consider paying people to do the right thing.

Maybe we can develop some sort of system whereby men and women on welfare marry, work toward self-sufficiency and good parenting, and earn credits that can be used toward purchase of a home built by Habitat for Humanity or some sort of similar program.

My post is not meant to belittle or mock you in any way. I’m just trying to provoke you to thought and to understand just how disastrous your proposed idea would be.

Who would determine what is considered “good parenting”?
In your idea who would administer and issue such “credits”?

Social engineering always leads to totalitarianism or communism no matter what imagined good intention it starts out with.

Your perceived solution to the problem is rooted in the same idea that Marx had.

This is a great day to ponder Liberty and Freedom and how they are maintained.
