‘Take it down!’ Trump 2020 banner at Orioles-Blue Jays game underscores racial tension

A “Take it down” chant broke out when fans unveiled a campaign banner supporting President Donald Trump during the eighth inning of Thursday’s game between the Toronto Blue Jays and Baltimore Orioles at Camden Yards in Baltimore.

Four fans were told to remove the banner before being ejected from the game.

"The banner, which was red, white and blue and featured the words ‘Keep America Great!’ in between ‘Trump 2020’, was unveiled in the eighth inning for less than 10 minutes before Baltimore Police and stadium officials had the fans who hung the banner take it down and leave the stadium. “Camden Yards policy is that no banners can be hung anywhere in the stadium so as not to obstruct other fans’ views of the game, according to a posting on the team’s website. Additionally, the team policy reads that ‘banners are subject to confiscation if the content is commercial, political, and/or in bad taste according to the Orioles’ discretion.’” Video of the ejection was caught by a fan behind the banner:

The banner appeared following Trump’s recent tweets about Baltimore, where he called the city “a disgusting, rat and rodent infested mess” and a “dangerous place."

Former Yankees outfielder Johnny Damon already came to the defense of Trump’s criticism of Baltimore, telling TMZ the city changed during his time playing in the MLB.

“He’s not wrong,” Damon said in the report. “Baltimore was one of the best places to visit when I broke into the league in ’95. And, at the end, we didn’t really, like, enjoy going back."

Being escorted out of the stadium by police likely saved their lives. What a sh*thole.

Actual Trump supporters? Hard to imagine them being at an Orioles game.

It’s a public building, not unlike the public square, and free speech to display a banner at the time and place or one’s choosing should always be permitted in a public building.

Take it down chant = five people. The rest of the fans approved.

Gotta buy a ticket to get in...free to have their own standards and if they enforce them the same for both sides of the political aisle then there’s nothing wrong with it.
That said, if I was there when they did it, I would have left and never went back...not much of a threat to them as I’d never go in the first place.
