There is no easy fix to the “dreamer” issue; often they know nothing about the country of their birth, and if we’re going to take in any immigrants I’d rather it would be English-speaking “dreamers” instead of someone else. If you could stop H1-Bs by normalizing the status of “dreamers”, would that be worthwhile?
Right now they are filling my state of NJ with foreigners who speak no English just to head off ghost towns; I’d prefer the taxpaying “dreamer”. Keep them off public assistance for x number of years, and deport them for crimes...
I think this is more of the story than is admitted to:
People feel like they should be getting ahead, but as it gets harder just to stay in place eventually they give up.
The problem with assimilated “dreamers” is that they act as anchors for family and extended family who ARE NOT assimulated into American culture, and have no real motivation to do so. Yes, it is a difficult issue, but the health of the culture is at stake, and we cannot sacrifice that over the prospect of harming others whose only misfortune is the criminality of their parents or relatives breaking immigration law. Ignoring that encourages MORE of the same behavior.
The entire foundational philosophy of psychology is false. Presumably, we are inherently good, and only external influences, experiences and events corrupt this goodness.
That is the antithesis of the Christian Western Civilization view.
I don’t want the “dreamers”, but nobody is going to kick them out; the same way you limit the availability of public assistance, you could prevent any family members from coming as well - we can make it as restrictive as we’d like. Living in the NYC metro area, I know the borders are going to be kept open just to prevent ghost towns from sprouting up all over the highest-taxed areas. Easily more than 50% of my town’s population is imported here - and if they weren’t the homes would be abandoned (and more importantly for the Deep State, the schools - the primary funding vehicle of the Democratic Party - would be closed).
