We agreed to celebrate our 18th Wedding Anniversary today.

Apparently that means going out for breakfast.

More later.

The effort to get Americans to become enthusiastic about soccer (how exciting, one score in ninety minutes ! ) over baseball, basketball and football, is the same as the effort to get the United States to bend to the will of the ‘international community’.

My old analog DVR had a good 2x speed on its fast forward and that was a great speed to watch the game. You could watch the plays develop and see what the offenses and defenses were trying to do. Now compare that to sports popular in the US which need slow motion to see details of what is happening.

Ugh, another year Real knocked my team (Bayern) out. I’ll pull for Liverpool.

I DVR the games, then fast forward at 3X speed waiting for a score to show up, then stop, watch the score, and then go (sometimes to the end) to see if there’s another score. Pretty exciting.

Still wondering what the hell they’re singing about during the whole game.

And of course, dearly love it when a guy brushes past another guy, who then collapses on the ground in “horrible” pain, and then gets up and continues. Notice how those yellow cards spread terror through the offender.

And then there’s the coach who appears to send in a “play” to the players, who then go out and then do whatever the hell it takes to try to get the ball back who then loses the ball to someone else in a moment, who then gets the ball back again . . . (am I repeating myself?)

The only good thing about the games is that there’re seldom any commercials. You can actually read a book and not get annoyed until some jackass announcer yells, “GOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLL!

You suspiciously know a little too much about soccer.

Unfortunately for you, you miss the whole excitement of when the ball enters the box, regardless of a score or not (on the defending side no score is actually a good excitement) which happens often enough.

If what you need only is a goal for excitement, then I suggest you scribble “GOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLL! on your wall and look at that all day.

Funny, you would think someone bitching about low scores would call himself something like A homer or even A hit rather than A strike. Just saying. LoL!
