Change Gun-Free Zones to CCW Zones
2/22/18 | self

Posted on 02/22/2018 11:36:37 AM PST by Moe-Patrick

Instead of hiring a multitude of security officers and subjecting children to a daily routine resembling the TSA, opt to be a CCW Zone. Better to have a killer guessing who’s armed as opposed to knowing who’s armed. Killers will not stop killing because AR-15’s are banned. They will stop killing if shot.

Thanks to Senator Slow-Joe Biden, we lost on the "common sense sign law" front. They successfully made the exercise of the Second Amendment unlawful.

Teachers have a right to defend themselves ... in their homes. These same ADULTS have a vested interest in being safer at work. Why is the media not surveying these adults who are at risk in their work places? Those who are willing to undergo the training and become CCW Americans should be armed at work with the tools they learn to handle proficiently ... preferably with fifteen or greater magazine capacities.

While I don’t disagree with allowing teachers to conceal carry I think that in addition there should be a visible armed and uniformed presence to act as a deterrent to those who would do harm to our kids. Preventing a confrontation is preferable IMHO than returning fire in the midst of innocents scrambling to get out of the way in a shoot out. An ounce of prevention is worth more than a pound of cure. And there are other measures than can be taken such as physical barriers, choke points with magnetometers and awareness programs that seek to identify potential shooters before it happens.

Great idea. We need to turn Joe Biden’s gun-Free School Zones law on its head. We need to deny all federal funding for schools where teachers and administrators are denied the right to concealed carry.

That includes in the Non-Free states where concealed carry is not allowed.

The main issue should be a states rights issue. There are states where the teachers can be state authorized to CCW, with proper training, and then if that state stops any assault when started, or have thereafter zero school assaults, other states can legislate accordingly and the scum politicians identified as the lying tools of the globalist masters they are.

yes, a good idea.

Volunteer teachers and staff who are willing to defend their school.

Screened and given background checks for suitability.

Interviewed by local law enforcement on protocol and legal limits in their location.

Intensively trained in CCW and self defense.

Nobody knows their students and facilities like the teachers and staff who work there every day. It's common sense.

More gun control and "gun free zones" simply creates a helpless, defenseless quarry for the next deranged killer.

Bingo! Teachers are already charged with the safety of the children in their care. And many are decent God-fearing 2nd Amendment patriots willing to do their duty where other sad-sacks are not. Allow them the opportunity. Allow them to save their own lives and the lives of those near them.

****Preventing a confrontation...*****

I disagree because prevention starts with family, culture, values, etc. But those things cannot be legislated. Turning a school into a TSA environment would have negative psychological effects. Remember hiding under your desk because of nuclear weapon drills? Imagine a six year old standing in line waiting to be frisked every day.

You suggested deterrents in the form of visible armed guards, IMO a better deterrent is the killer knowing they WILL be shot at by more than the obvious armed guard (and possibly the first target of the shooter).

School shootings are typically done by their own students. Most do not want to be shot at. They want to shoot without resistance. CCW Zone advertises resistance. Regardless of barricades, security officers, chokepoints, there will always be a surrounding area ripe with ‘sitting ducks’.

Real prevention starts in the home.

Bad idea. Local cops in some areas are of the "me cop you not" train of thought. Some are outright antigunners and can't be relied upon. Just follow the Constitution.

Exactly! The Butler County Sheriff in Ohio offered teachers free gun training and had more than 250 signups within days. Most don’t realize that to obtain a CCW, you must have training.

To qualify for the FASTER program, you need to first have your CCW license, then you can take the 40 hour FASTER training.

Then a good idea is to not use those officers who are unwilling to get with the program I think?

Teachers and staff need to be screened and informed of local laws. If the cop does not wish to give it his best efforts inline with the school board intentions he should be replaced. We don't need another Federal or State bureaucracy. It is up to local government to defend their children.

----------

School staff approved for carrying firearms must pass a “rigorous interview process, a complete psychological evaluation and a comprehensive firearms and emergency response training course,” according to a press statement released by the district last week. District employees selected to carry firearms will be provided additional training as the school board deems “necessary or appropriate,” according to the policy. District officials have said specific staff selected for the program will not be publicly identified and will be selected from a pool of volunteers. Some district employees participated in a pilot training program last fall."

Argyle ISD in Texas is making it work. It's not rocket science but it protects the children, and at it's core that is the whole point of the exercise.

Depriving a state of federal funds because they don’t allow citizens to protect themselves and “the children” doesn’t seem like a real big states’ rights issue to me. I mean, after all, “if it saves just one child’s life...,” right?

I agree that prevention starts with family, culture, etc. But by the time it escalates to an active shooter situation those fundamentals that most of us learn in our homes growing up have obviously failed. There is a reason policemen wear uniforms and visibly display a weapon. It’s called deterrence and has been effective in stopping crimes before they start for centuries in many countries. In fact, the lack of foot patrol officers in urban environments is often cited as a major cause of rampant crime. In Europe where guns are mostly unavailable officers and military members openly patrol the streets, usually in pairs, uniformed and carrying sub-machineguns. And many people there feel safer because of it. I would rather explain to my child that security measures are in place to protect them than explain to their mother that I did nothing because I feared for my child’s potentially fragile psyche.
