My 34 year old son has been in the hospital since September with what the doctors can only describe as a rare form of a rare disease. It is an adult onset of something, maybe.
Both of his lungs have collapsed in January due to different scopes and surgeries. They get re-inflated by sticking a tube in his chest and applying a light suction.
In the ICU waiting room I met a woman who was there because her 12 year old daughter was getting some new lungs due to cystic fibrosis. They do some pretty amazing stuff these days.
