The media seem to have settled on the term “meddling”. The Russians meddled in our election, they say. It’s a term that suits their purposes because it’s nonspecific and sounds sinister. There was a time when they wouldn’t have used such imprecise language but of course they were in a different business then.
The narrative could not advance without resort to guilt by vagery and innuendo based on speculation. There's your "criminal meddling."
