Please send up some prayers for our family, especially my wife, Ruby
As some know, we have been watching our son wither away as he has fought cancer for 3-1/2 years.
Daniel has gotten to the point where he cannot get up by himself and requires 24/7 care - 90% of which has fallen upon my wife - he is embarrassed to have me see him as he is so I can't spend much time with him and have taken to ensuring all the household and other things that need doing get done. I take groceries and other supplies over and take lunch orders, etc., but it makes me feel next to useless as I cannot do what I feel I should be doing to support Ruby as she watches her only child (he's 50 but he is the only child she bore and it is always a terrible thing to watch a child go while the parent(s) continue on. Daniel is from a previous marriage but as he is part of her, he is part of me also, but most of my heartbreak is watching Ruby go on day in and day out.
Ruby expresses appreciation for all I do and sometimes expresses feelings of guilt for not being there for me as she feels a wife should be and for the fact that we spent a lot of money in initial medical expenses and have put our retirement plans on hold for these last 3+ years. That in itself breaks my heart even more because I hate for her to have these feelings on top of all else she is going through.
We received word over the weekend that Ruby,s brother Joe passed away in Ohio. Joe had on-going health issues but we thought we would get to spend more time with him and losing him without having a chance to spend more time has hurt Ruby all the more - especially since she cannot leave Daniel to go to the services and spend time with her sister-in-law, Nita or her nephews that are Joe and Nita's children. I can't go because I will not leave Ruby alone as she watches Daniel in his final days. Daniel is 6'4" and weighs about 85 pounds - his arms are like broomsticks and his knees make his thighs look skinny and he is in constant pain.
So please mention us in your prayers:
Me (Bob), my wife (Ruby), Daniel's children (Zane and Paige), Joe's wife (Nita), his surviving children (Todd and Ike), and of course, the souls of Daniel and Joe.
Thanks so much and God Bless.
Prayers up my friend. God bless.
