I appreciate Dan’s work and think he has some interesting points here but it fails to catch the hyperbolic curve of the last 16 years since 9/11.
At the time of 9/11, the media realized that America’s general conservative values would win out. As the unity was observed in horror by the left, the mission of every progressive communist was in doubt. It was going to take a herculean effort to wrestle control of our culture back into a leftist destination. They made that effort.
It has now reached the point where there is none so vile as a typical national journalist. Remember how David Horowitz’s communist party parents told him that they no longer should refer to themselves as communist, it now had to always be “progressive.”
I wonder if The New York Times, the Washington Post and CNN are really realizing rising subscriptions, ad sales and profits?
I have no idea how to verify that, but if it is true, I’d be surprised.
How would one verify?

Comparing the MSM to Pravda and Isvestia from the old Soviet Union, at least the later were honest enough to admit they were propaganda instruments.
I'm also amazed at the claim that it's "unamerican" to criticize the media. Not at all. The reason it's actually something that's important is that there is nearly NO free, independent media in the USA. The media wasn't just uninterested in investigating the weaponizing of federal agencies against political opponents of the left, it worked hand in hand WITH the corrupt Obama regime to do the work of the regime. And what is probably the greatest shame of the so called "media" during the Obama regime is the way they ignored and even buried the surprising attacks of the Obama regime against the press! Wire tapping the AP? Lying to a federal judge to get a warrant to tap the lines of James Rosen of Fox News, and, I believe, his parent's home as well! Not a frigging peep by the NY Slimes, CNN, WAPO, or any other major rags or broadcast networks.

Even teen and fashion magazines are running hyperbolic anti-Trump stuff. I am guessing that if it wasn’t profitable then market forces would force them to stop and go back to teen topics and fashion.
There is no other way to explain why they push leftist ideology first, foremost and always.
Were it not so, there would be more copycats to Fox News which is the most successful and least ideologically driven media company among the majors.
President Trump is confident that he can get the media to do what he wants because he understands that it only pretends to be driven by progressive virtue, but is actually motivated by classic vice. The core hypocrisy of the left is its belief that it can have virtue in the public sphere and vice in the private one.
Media stars can grope their female subordinates in private as long as they tout Planned Parenthood and Linda Sarsour in public. It’s okay to fly private jets as long as they push for plastic bag bans. Getting rich is great if they do it while dedicating their careers to opposing the idea of other people getting rich. If you tweet #BlackLivesMatter, you can make racist jokes with your friends. That’s the hypocritical left.

From what I saw last year re subscriptions and ad $’s, the print mediots like the Ny/La Slimes, WSJ and Compost are hurting financially.
The NY Slimes laid off a lot of people last year via early retirement packages.
We have more and more conservative friends and relatives doing what we did last year, basically no network tv fake news and no local tv fake news. No big fish-wrap subscriptions, maybe local fish-wraps.
We are not the sought after 20-40 year old users by the mediots. However our disposable income is significant, and one day advertisers will wake up.
Our 30 year old to 49 year old younger generation, stopped buying and subscribing to local and area news papers when they became home owners. Their news comes from the social media that Trump plays like a maestro.
I cannot, for the life of me, understand why the NY Slimes, WA Compost, LA Slimes, et al are still in business. I guess there will always be, albeit limited, a market for LIEberal LIES!
The Florida Times Union raised their price to $50.00/month a couple of years ago. Wasn’t worth $20 when I read it, and have not read it since!
It now has a daily circulation of 45,000 and Sunday circulation of 70,000; in a metro area of 1 Million plus!
Be fine with me if it goes bankrupt - reading a silly LIEberal rag is definitely not my style!
