Roger Goodell: Captain of the NFL Titanic
DB Daily Update ^ | 10.19.2017 | David Blackmon

Posted on 10/19/2017 5:01:48 AM PDT by EyesOfTX

Fresh off his mid-season meetings with NFL owners and players in New York, Roger Goodell told the assembled press that they had talked and talked and talked about “social justice” stuff and the national anthem and decided that….wait for it….NOTHING WILL CHANGE.

Goodell said that while he and the owners would “prefer” all players to stand for the national anthem and honor the country that has made them all so fabulously wealthy, he and his feckless group of owners will make no rules changes to require them to do so. Thus, the NFL will continue to fine players who don’t tuck their shirt in, who don’t wear their socks the correct height, who use towels that don’t meet league regulations, who use too much stick-em on their fingers, who are late to team meetings, and for hundreds of other picky rules violations, but they just aren’t able to bring themselves to enforce a little decorum on the sidelines.

Goodell obviously doesn’t understand it, but he is the captain of the Titanic at this point. (Come to think of it, the Captain of the Titanic didn’t understand his problem, either, until he ran into that iceberg.) His league’s audience is dropping like a rock, his stewardship of the league is an abject disaster, and he has completely lost favor with the support base for the political party that is, by the way, the vast majority political party across the nation at this point.

His business depends heavily on its anti-trust exemption, for which there is literally no good justification at all at this time, and on the very favorable tax treatments it receives at all government levels. Mr. Goodell appears to have no understanding at all of the political peril his league faces if these protests against our country continue.

$7 billion in taxpayer dollars paid for the stadiums around the country so the NFL could become rich.

Pull the plug!

These clowns work for us. Time to say, “You’re fired!”

“They’re talking about criminal justice reform, whether it’s bail reform. Whether it’s talking about mandatory sentencing. They’re talking about changes that, I think, will make our communities better — that there’s bipartisan support for and that need focus.” Yes, I did not make that up – the Commmissioner of the NFL is suddenly pretending to be an expert on which issues have “bipartisan support”. Holy crap.

LMBO. Don't forget the gender pay gap! They're kneeling for that, too.

After 35 years of watching NFL games, we have managed to survive six weeks without tuning in. We are officially cured and are enjoying our NFL-free life.

The NFL is destroyed. The game of football is not.
People, finish off the NFL. Football deserves better than this corrupt political league of fools and libtard hacks.

Just look at the ads during an NFL game and you will see their demographic:
White, Middle Aged, men with erectile dysfunction, who drink beer and love Football.
We pay entertainers millions of dollars to entertain us. We don’t want to know your politics because it is not central to your purpose: entertainment

I have to LOL at the gender pay gap. Football players making millions, the cheerleaders making $50/game.

Not to mention season ticket holders. The NFL already had their money at the start of this season. Just wait until they make their decisions to renew. . . OR NOT! Goodell will be hoisted by his own pittard.

Sundays are returning to a day of reflection(church), being with the family and spending meaningful time with them. NFL is not needed to have a wonderful and fulfilling day.

The players are in a bad spot, and it’s entirely of their own making.

While Kaepernick was fairly clear about his protest, the other players have been ambiguous. There aren’t a lot of specifics and there isn’t a lot of clarity about the nature of their protest.

So we have a lot of ambiguity and fill in the blanks. After taking their strong moral stand, how can they back down now? How can they come into work next Sunday and stand for the anthem? Are the problems they raised solved? Have they been meaningfully addressed? They can’t say they raised awareness because they’re not clear about exactly what they were protesting.

Now, if they stand they look like idiots. If they remain kneeling, they alienate fans.

They didn’t think this through.

This is one of the few articles posted on the subject that totally nailed it.

Goodell is a big part of the problem, and his termination (noisily and without apology) is a necessary first step for the NFL to avoid hitting that iceberg.

The thing is the problem isn’t even police brutality. There is no police brutality. There is a problem with crime, resisting arrest, provoking and assaulting officer
