The majority of the American people finally got wind of what a crooked bitch she is and decided we already had enough of them in Washington, we didn’t need another. She has a history of blaming everyone else, everything outlandish to take the “guilt” off of herself as the ONE that committed political suicide, for that I am eternally grateful. Good Riddance!

You’ve more or less got the offerings although during that era local TV was much more active and lucrative. Coffee klatsch shows, variety shows, etc. Many local charities still bear the names of local/regional TV hosts.
Once upon a time the networks really had to schmooze affiliates. As crazy as it sounds now, many affiliates would run alternative programming against certain network shows if the affiliates thought they would be ratings losers or - gasp! - if the network’s sludge offended the morals and/or sensibilities of their viewers.
Shame that we don’t have station executives with similar backbones these days but then again they are all identical-format drones issued from a central location.
In many ways, network broadcasting looks like the electoral map of today - a few blue islands on the coasts preaching to an almost unbroken expanse of red.
IMO that was Carol’s funniest sketch ever, of the washed up Hollywood harridan; especially the unplugged jukebox bit.

Carol did a lot of great skits on her variety show.
Watching some on DVD, I had forgotten about her interacting with the audience and periodically acknowledging support talent and crew.
Every now and then seeing the old time cameras on the big boom cranes is kind of neat.
I wonder when the uncensored version of Blazing Saddles will be banned?
Oh my........don’t even think that. Good thing I have 2 DVD’s of it............;)
