MANILA, Philippines (NBC News) – The United Nations Security Council has voted unanimously to tighten sanctions in response to recent tests of North Korean missiles capable of reaching U.S. cities.

“This is the most stringent set of sanctions on any country in a generation,” United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley said of the vote.

North Korea, meanwhile, has angrily warned of “thousands fold revenge” against the U.S. if any military action is taken.

The North said Monday that it will take an unspecified “resolute action of justice” and will never place its nuclear program on the negotiating table as long as U.S. hostility against Pyongyang persists.....

We need to send a colonel or a brigadier general to Kim's palace to explain MIRV and neutron weapons.

Our little fatty can’t take much more. He needs the money to feed his generals. When will they revolt cuz that’s what’s needed.

What is the map supposed to illustrate? Kim Jong Il knows who voted for Trump, and who didn’t? And he’s gonna hit those who didn’t?

I wish fat boy would make his move. Let’s get this show on the road, and settle it once and for all.

Trump is playing a little rope-a-dope with fatso Kim... burning through cash with all these missile and bomb tests and sanctions, waiting for him to do something really stupid.

No, he’d aim his weapons at the most populous places.

The areas in blue are where half of the U.S. lives.

I’d think LA, San Fran, Seattle would be the closet targets.

What’s the political ‘fallout’ if the areas in blue go up in smoke?

Republicans would win every national election for the next 40 years.

We needn't go nuclear.

Imagine the NK Leader eating with his generals. One of them drops dead. A few moments later, another one drops dead. Rinse and repeat over a week. Then, Kim Jong-un wakes from a bad night's sleep to this... This is almost no different from the military head games Reagan ran around the Soviets in the early 1980s. It was brutally effective, without a shot being fired.

"Sometimes we would send bombers over the North Pole and their radars would click on," recalls Gen. Jack Chain, [a] former Strategic Air Command commander. "Other times fighter-bombers would probe their Asian or European periphery." During peak times, the operation would include several maneuvers in a week. They would come at irregular intervals to make the effect all the more unsettling. Then, as quickly as the unannounced flights began, they would stop, only to begin again a few weeks later.

Just as effective, a fraction of the cost, and maybe the poor people of North Korea can eventually do a Ceaușescu on lil' Kim.

He would, of course, target cities, and by the very fact of targeting large concentrations of population, he will in fact kill mostly Clinton supporters.

If Kim Jong Un has his druthers, he would likely do the most damage to the US if he hit New York. Secondly, with much of the internet and high tech concentrated in San Francisco, that would also be a desirable target. He might also hit Washington DC, though I think it would have the opposite effect that he thinks.

Kim Jong Un isn't going to have very many weapons to use, and that's if they even work, which I am inclined to think they probably won't.

From what I think I know, his allies and partners in technology are Iran and Pakistan. That makes me nervous.

A population map, and you know 80%+ of Hawaii lives on that island.

Didn’t Japan and Al Q try that once?

A nuke on a ship in the Atlantic, fired by missile over/toward N. America, exploded 250 miles up, could ‘fry’ the grid for much of the Eastern US.

Many assumptions but the largest being, this is done outside of NA airspace so as not to trigger an early intercept by US space defences. Ideally (for the Norks), a nuke could be launched that would explode near the centre of the US, destroying all the grid in the US.

They are not interested in ‘winning’ a war because they know they can’t, only in taking the US with them in destruction.

Just shoot down Kim’s next missile launch. Add a statement that says something to the effect of, “ next missile that goes up, not only will we shoot it down, but will launch one of our own.”

Hat will shut the little plick up.

Ah, but Kim Jong Un is ever so much SMARTER than the Japanese or al Qaeda. He wont make the mistakes they did.

His first strike shall be so devastating the Americans will have a total collapse of will and preemptively surrender before a single North Korean troop ever reaches the North American continent.

IN YOUR CUFFING DREAMS, KJU!!!

I'm familiar with the theory, but I am not convinced it is as serious as it's advocates claim. We used to explode nukes in space, and they never collapsed our electricity grid.

North Korea has barely gotten 20 kilotons out of their junk so far.

More sanctions. Those really hurt the rulers. (Eyes rolling.)

It’s a way to pretend you are doing something. That’s all it is. Hey! Why not send a sternly worded letter too!

You're misinformed. The latest UN sanctions halt 1/3 of North Korea's exports. That will hurt the severely.
